Peoples Church has celebrated over 60 years of serving the people in and around the Fresno area. It is a dynamic, nondenominational church (affiliated with the Assemblies of God), made up of all ages and backgrounds, including singles and married, students, parents, grandparents, and white and blue-collar professionals.  It would be described as a “come as you are” church, where at any given gathering you may see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a t-shirt.  Whether a person has attended a church all their life, or if it is their first time to step foot into a church, Peoples is a church that is open to all, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey.

In 2010, Dale Oquist was elected as the new Lead Pastor of Peoples Church, and under his leadership and teaching the church has experienced continued growth. Peoples offers something for every one of every age, and the church expects weekend attendance will reach over 7,500 in next 5 years. With expected increases in attendance, the children’s ministry is expected to double. With God’s continued movement, expected growth in the community, and the hire of a dynamic Children’s Pastor, the church is poised for explosive growth over the next few years.

The Children's Pastor will be a visionary leader of leaders who is both engaging and passionate about building a healthy and dynamic children's ministry in the Fresno, CA area. This person will be given responsibility and oversight of the strategic planning, growth, and implementation of the family ministries from birth to 6th grade. They will provide overall leadership and direction to a dynamic Children's Ministry Leadership team and support staff to ensure the implementation of the Peoples Church vision and mission. The overall goal will be to create a Christ-centered environment where children will love to come every weekend, as well as create a place where the children and their families will be impacted not just on Sundays, but in their daily lives. The new Children's Pastor will also create a culture of collaboration that engages and equips parents and guardians to spiritually lead their families. This role will ensure opportunities for volunteerism as well as the training and developing of servant leaders. The Children's Pastor will have the opportunity to lead from their strengths and will be empowered to build a ministry that will have a lasting impact upon the future of Peoples Church, the city of Fresno, and the surrounding communities.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching unreached/dechurched families and children with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new guests. Proven experience in leadership, strategic and creative thinking, problem solving, and high growth in a fast-paced environment of at least 400+ children (birth – 6th Grade) is strongly preferred.  Work history in communication and team building is a must.  In sum, the successful candidate will be ready to go from day one on the job. Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the new Children's Pastor.  However, it is likely that they will hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
