Job Description:


  • Attend weekly staff meetings, program staff meetings, Worship & Music Team meetings, and other meetings as requested by senior pastor
  • Work collegially with the whole church staff and leadership to further the overall vision of First Presbyterian Church, Asheboro (FPC)
  • Attend training events for his/her own professional growth
  • Consistently look for ways to strengthen and build the ministries under his/her responsibility in a manner consistent with the vision of FPC as a whole
  • Recruit, rehearse, and lead a praise team for worship, working with Pastors to choose music that relates to the sermon each Sunday
  • Have a strong desire to seek new and creative ways to involve the arts in worship
  • Have a desire to lead people in the worship of Jesus Christ, and not simply to play music and lead a band
  • Understand how to use music to create a seamless flow to the worship experience, leading people through song, prayer, the reading of Scripture, etc.
  • Work with the Youth Ministry Team to use music as part of a worship time during weekly youth meetings
  • Facilitate production of audio/video material for worship and other church events

  • Understanding, support, and agreement with our church's vision and the essentials of the Reformed/Presbyterian stream of the Christian faith
  • Good planning and administrative skills
  • Team player with strong relational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing others
  • A highly motivated self-starter who works well with minimal direct supervision
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year accredited college or university, or equivalent
  • Ability to utilize current  technology in support of the worship team and the use of audio/video during worship
  • Strong vocal skills required
  • Ability to play guitar or keyboard a plus
  • Demonstrated ability as a contemporary worship leader
