Small Groups Director

Position Status:        Full Time Director

Responsible To:        Community Care Pastor

Position Summary:  To serve as the overseer of small groups at Cornwall Church, providing recruitment, training, direction, and development of the small group ministry at Cornwall Church, under the Community part of our vision.  Cornwall Church is a dynamic, evangelical church located in Bellingham, Washington

At Cornwall Church, we value people moving spiritually in the context of relationships and see each ministry offering as an opportunity to prompt a next step spiritually.  The small group ministry prompts next steps, focused on growing in Christ likeness by connecting with God through scripture, to know and be known by others, and to live out our faith, in the context of community.

Summary of Essential Job Functions (they primarily include, but not limited to):

  • Provide overall development, strategy, vision casting, and implementation of small group ministry at Cornwall Church, including recruitment, training, and development of small group leaders
  • Conduct training events for small group leaders, from organization to implementation, including periodic teaching
  • Oversee the small group connection process connecting new people to existing groups and following up to assure connections are made
  • Develop new small group leaders and new groups
  • Serve as the primary contact for small group leaders providing updates, information, and access to the resource library
  • Connect interested people to the Healing Network group opportunities
  • Run point with the baptism process responding to interest, following up, answering questions, arranging logistics, and sending out baptism certificates
  • Oversee spiritual growth campaign booklet developing content in coordination with those involved, editing, printing and distribution
  • Keep the website updated for Small Groups, Healing Network, and Baptisms
  • Arena and Constant Contact updates for all the above information

Required Skills

  • Passionate belief in and in agreement with the vision, strategy, and direction of Cornwall Church; and as a staff person in agreement with our ministry strategy, staff values, and staff expectations as primarily outlined in the Cornwall Church Employee Personnel Policies, Guidelines and Procedures Handbook
  • Mature commitment to Christ with the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and general public
  • Demonstrated being a self initiator and proactively moving projects to completion
  • Demonstrated teaching and administrative abilities
  • Strong relational, leadership, team building, and problem solving skills
  • Experience in leading and attending small groups
