Southway Community Church is a non-denominational (we are loosely affiliated with Bible churches), multi-generational church that is focused on helping people become Gospel-driven, ever-growing followers of Christ. Currently we average between 125-150 people
in our weekend worship gatherings, and are looking for a catalyst to help us grow towards our goal of becoming a church-planting church.
We are looking for a Director of Worship and Mission who will help us in weekend worship to engage our head and hearts, and who will help us worship God in the weekdays through being on mission.
We have two weekend worship gatherings that are identical, and we enjoy our blended song selection of modern and classic worship songs. We are also active in three local ministries with sex trafficking relief, working with Houston’s homeless, and serving
a local food pantry. We are ready to continue refining and improving our weekend worship gatherings to be God-centered, believer-targeted and seeker-sensible, while also aiming to improve our missional engagement with our community. are looking to grow in
our ability to be on mission both locally and globally.

Ministry Description for Director of Worship and Mission:
-Provide leadership and oversight to worship and mission ministries included and not limited to: worship service/service planning, praise teams, choirs, and A/V teams, and creation/implementation of ministries that help Southway stay on
mission with the Gospel. Due to the nature of this position, the Director of Worship and Mission will participate in areas and initiatives outside of worship and mission ministries (preaching, small group participation, visits, and congregational care) and
will have other assignments that help achieve the mission of Southway.
-Average 45 hours per week, 12 months per year.
-Direct report to: Lead Pastor.
-Indirect report to: Elder Team.
-Salary, every other week via Direct Deposit.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree.

Programs, ministries and volunteers will reflect Southway’s Core Values, overall Vision, and be within Doctrinal Statement boundaries.
Lead Sunday morning worship services weekly (and serve within those services through primarily singing; or other ways as needed.).
Oversee weekly Praise Team practices and other called practices as needed (Choir, etc).
Active recruiter/trainer for Praise Team and/or A/V Team participants.
Stay up-to-date on worship music, materials, staging/stage presentation, and media used in worship services. (Subscriptions, conferences, workshops, media presentations)
Oversee maintenance, purchasing, and care of equipment pertaining to worship and worship services.
Be the point person for the Hospitality Team (bridge between worship and outreach on Sundays)
Actively involved in accomplishment of Southway’s Mission and Vision (through Small Group participation, ministry recruitment and training, and one-on-one discipleship).
Intentionally build relationships with others for the purpose of personal disciple-making.
Improve and oversee Southway’s social media platforms (Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) for excellence in communication and information.
Implement a “do-able” menu of local outreach initiatives for Southway to engage in.
Help train Southway to share the Gospel with words and through works.
Help improve communication between Southway and Faith Promise missionaries for the purposes of prayer, networking, and mission opportunities.
Attend regular staff meetings/meetings in area of ministry (Worship Planning, Guest at Elder and/or Deacon Meetings) and complete assignments on time.
As necessary, meet with Lead Pastor on church-wide initiatives.
Submit regular ministry reports, schedules and future plans as required.
Completes reading assignments as given by Lead Pastor.
As a member of ministry staff, the Director of Worship and Mission is expected to take at least 1 day off per week in addition to regular vacation times for refreshment.
