Job Description:


We are seeking a Pastor of Worship and Discipleship, who will lead our church in God-centered, authentic worship and also develop a comprehensive plan for biblical education and discipleship to help church members mature in the Word.

Suggested Guidelines for Pastor of Worship & Discipleship

  1. Use his influence and the position of Pastor of Worship & Discipleship to sustain and support the church in a Godly manner.

  2. Give prayerful consideration to the needs of the church.

  3. Guard the unity of the church in the bond of peace.

  4. Assist in developing the overall ministry of the Tell Street satellite location, with special

    attention given to equipping lay leaders in the areas of Worship & Discipleship

  5. In the area of Worship:

    • Plan God-centered worship gatherings that are thematically based, working

      alongside the pastoral staff.

    • Plan and lead all necessary rehearsals in a timely and organized manner.

    • Work to involve & develop those within the congregation who have been spiritually

      gifted in the areas of vocal and instrumental music, including choir(s) leader, ensembles, instrumentals, soloists, praise band(s), and praise team(s)

  6. In the area of Discipleship:

    • Oversee all aspects of Sunday School and Discipleship including community and

      missions outreach

    • Provide direction, encouragement, and promotion to all Sunday School, Small

      Groups, & Discipleship classes

    • Work closely with the pastor and leadership of the church in formulating and casting

      a vision consistent with the elements of Exalting God through Worship, Equipping

      the Saints through Relationships, and Engaging the World through Ministry.

    • Develop comprehensive plan for biblical education and discipleship to help church members mature in the Word

    • Design an inviting, informing, relational process for guests to learn about HBC while building relationships that move them toward biblical education and discipleship.

  7. In the area of Operations:

    • Work with all ministry coordinators to ensure alignment with the church vision

    • Serve as ex-officio member of and coordinate with all committees of the church to

      ensure staff and committee cooperation

    • Coordinate all church special events and mission projects

    • Assist the pastor in all areas of ministry as needed

    • Serve in implementing the vision of the church as communicated by the pastor

    • Assist with the day to day operations of the church

8. In the area of Media:

  • Assist in church multimedia ministry, communications, & graphic arts

  • Oversee technical ministry and teams (sound, lighting, projection, and recording).

  • Prep, duplicate and maintain weekly worship recordings.

  • Prep worship center as needed for worship gatherings.

  • Oversee website.

    Hawesville Baptist Church commits to:

  1. Pray for ________ as he helps to lead our church and give prayerful consideration to his


  2. Provide (2) weeks of annual paid vacation, available after (6) months; A third week of

    paid vacation will be given annually after (5) years.

  3. Allow him (2) days off each week. Since Sundays are considered work-days for the staff,

    (1) day off each week will be a weekday.

  4. Allow up to (2) weeks per year of revival.

  5. Make financial provisions for ________ to be active in denominational life by attending

    the Southern Baptist Convention, the Kentucky Baptist Convention, the KBC Evangelism

    Conference or other conferences deemed necessary.

  6. Care for his material needs by providing a compensation package within the limits

    approved by the church. The beginning compensation is a ______ annual salary.

  7. Subject to normal raise structure starting __________.

  8. Mileage reimbursement as per present budget as related to church business.
