Job Description:

Position:        Technical Arts Lead


Application Deadline: May 22, 2015


Hours:            Part-time (approximately 20 hours/wk)

Includes week-end services and special events


Accountable to:    Director of Worship



  • Recruit unpaid servants (volunteers) and teach them to use all audio and video (AV) equipment
  • Oversee the Visual Arts, Visual and Audio Production Teams and Stage Crew
  • Expand the Video Production ministry
  • Coordinate schedule for all worship services (including special worship services and concerts) 
  • Schedule volunteers for all rehearsals and activities requiring AV support
  • Maintain, repair and upgrade all equipment related to the AV Arts ministries at First UMC, including video production

Skill Requirements:

  • Leadership skills must include the ability to:
  • Recruit, train, motivate and lead an AV ministries team
  • Communicate and build rapport with a diverse team of volunteers, church staff, team members, and volunteers
  • Work with and contribute to our overall church staff team
  • Be an outstanding organizer
  • Work independently
  • Work well and remain calm under pressure
  • Be creative



  • Technical skills must include:
  • Expertise in current audio/visual technology – PC and Mac computers video cameras, sound, lighting and media equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows and Mac operating software, video editing software, and Worship Arts media software – (Propresenter is present application)
  • Capacity to troubleshoot/solve equipment and software issues
  • Capability to keep equipment in working order, including basic repair
  • Understanding of, and the ability to implement technology changes/upgrades
  • Working with Comcast for our weekly service tapings
