In 1950, Tinley Park Church of Christ was born from the hopes and prayers God had placed the hearts of a small group two years prior. Thirty dedicated people met together for the first service on April 15, 1951, in a storefront on Oak Park Avenue. Four years later, in February of 1955, they purchased the building of Zion Lutheran Church and moved into their own place. The church remained at this location and the congregation continued to flourish. After twenty-two years, they outgrew the building and moved into a new facility at 16250 South 84th Avenue.  In June of 1990, they changed their name to Tinley Park Christian Church and, in the same year, Tim Harlow was invited to be the new senior pastor. From 1990 to 2000, the church grew from 150 members to 500 in the new facility. Second and third service times were added to accommodate the growing congregation. A myriad of ministries existed, supported by committed and caring volunteers and staff. Again, the church needed more space, and that was the only limiting factor.

With the assistance of a consultant and a major fund raising campaign, the church partnered with the City of Orland to plan and purchase twelve acres, with the additional possibility for more later, at the corner of 183rd and Wolf Rd. Through God's grace and blessings, and the commitment and dedication of the people, the church completed Phase I of their building plan and moved into their current location in the fall of 2002.The new facility is located on two major roads with tens of thousands of people living nearby. The church believes they have been provided a great mission field, with thousands of people just waiting to hear the living message of the risen Savior. Parkview completed Phase II of their growth plan in March 2006, which included an $8.7 million, 84,000 square foot addition with a 1,700-seat Worship Center. Since 2000, Parkview has appeared nearly every year on Outreach Magazine’s list of the top 100 fastest growing churches or top 100 largest churches in the country. In 2014, Parkview was the 66th largest church in America. More than 21,000 attended Christmas services in December. There are plans underway to launch two additional campuses in the next three years—adding to the Lockport and Orland Park campuses.

Parkview Christian Church is seeking a Pastor of Student Ministries and Young adults to lead students (grades 6-12 and post-high school through age 23) into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by providing strategic leadership to the staff and volunteers of Parkview Christian Church’s Student and Young Adult Ministries.

The successful candidate will be a strategist, able not only to envision the desired results, but also able to put together a plan for how to achieve those results. They will also be a compelling communicator able to teach in a way that leaves people with the desire to hear more and inspires students to bring their friends back to listen as well. The successful candidate should be a connector, possessing a love for networking and meeting new people as well as fun, able to tell a good joke and doesn’t take themselves too seriously. They should be competitive, persistent and unyielding when it comes to achieving personal and/or team goals as well as a proven leader, possessing a history of leading, growing, and managing a healthy ministry with students and young adults. The successful candidate will have an eye for talent/giftedness and will enjoy seeing the team succeed. A bachelor's degree is required.
