In 1988, a small group of people met around a common vision to transform Northern Kentucky. Vineyard Christian Church was born and was a forerunner for the contemporary churches in the area. They were commissioned to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom,
bearing witness through words and deeds to those already in the Kingdom and those not yet of the Kingdom. They set out to serve the least of those around them. In the early days they met in a middle school gymnasium and soon the community began to grow. Fourteen
acres were purchased in the current location on Pleasant Valley Road and a permanent facility was built. During its highest season of growth, the attendance reached approximately 1,200 weekly.
After 26 years, founding Senior Pastor Barry Long continues to lead Vineyard Christian Church around the same basic ideas and values that drove that initial group of Christ followers. Looking ahead, it is the desire of the church and its leadership to continue
to serve their community, worship authentically, and preach the Gospel prophetically in the next season. Despite church attendance declining over the past few years, the spiritual fervor of the congregation has not diminished. Current attendance reaches approximately
750 weekly. It is now time to pass the baton to a new generation; time for a new leader for Vineyard Christian Church who will build upon what has already been built and look ahead to all that God might desire in the next season for Vineyard. As Senior Pastor
Barry Long moves toward retirement, he and the Vineyard leadership are aware that this is a critical role to identify for the church.
The Vineyard Christian Church is seeking a Senior Pastor that will be the primary face of Vineyard Christian Church (VCC) in both the church and the community. The Senior Pastor acts as the Chief Executive Officer and oversees all that encompasses the larger
vision, mission, and direction of Vineyard Christian Church. This person will be the primary teacher and chief communicator and will be responsible for maintaining the Biblical integrity of the message and direction for the church as a whole.
The ideal candidate for the Senior Pastor will be a highly relational, authentic, and collaborative leader with a proven track record in a medium/large environment. He will be a master communicator of God’s Word, articulating the timeless truth of Scripture
with clear application. His genuine communication will reveal an authentic and humble heart that desires to live out what is preached. Vision casting and prophecy must be their primary gifts as they lead and relate to the next generation. The successful candidate
will be a culturally savvy evangelical and have a minimum of 5 years experience.
