On September 29, 1996, First Redeemer Church (FRC) held its first worship service in a converted warehouse in South Forsyth County. Much work, and even more prayer, preceded that historic day. In 1994, Rehoboth Baptist Church located in Tucker, Georgia, prayed and fasted for a year and a half to discern God’s vision for the future. Rehoboth Baptist Church, founded in 1854, had never planted a new church. In a great move of God and in obedience to His call, Rehoboth Baptist Church set out to begin a second location in Forsyth County. That September, Rehoboth Church-North held the first worship service under the leadership of Dr. Richard Lee, who was the Senior Pastor at Rehoboth. 87 people from Rehoboth committed to help plant and serve the new church campus. Dr. Lee pastored both campuses for a time. Driven by its mission “to win, baptize, teach, and disciple every person possible by every means possible until the coming again of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” and God’s hand of blessing, the new church grew rapidly. After only 13 months, Rehoboth Church-North constituted as its own church and became FRC. At the same time, Dr. Richard Lee no longer pastored both churches, but devoted himself solely to FRC as its Founding Pastor. On December 19, 1999, FRC relocated to its present campus, 2.5 miles east of the warehouse on 50 acres, and moved into a new 2,200 seat Sanctuary. In October of 2004, FRC dedicated the 83,000 square foot, multi-purpose Student and Family center.

On FRC’s 17th Anniversary, Dr. Richard Lee passed the mantle of Senior Pastor to Rev. Jeff Jackson. God’s favor has been clearly evident in the transition. Pastor Jeff, along with his family, had been involved in First Redeemer from its inception and Jeff had been on staff since 2002. The ministries of First Redeemer Church are experiencing unprecedented growth with Jeff Jackson as Senior Pastor. The attendance, as well as giving, are at remarkable and historic  levels. The health of the church has never been better and is poised to seize the God-given vision which Pastor Jeff  has cast. Today, FRC houses an immaculate, expansive campus accommodating almost 5,000 members. Once again, God is calling First Redeemer Church to take great steps of faith and to participate in a God-sized movement to reach and transform their children, their community, and their world like never before.

First Redeemer Church is seeking a Family Pastor to oversee all ministries to children birth through 5th grade and partner with parents to extend ministry into the home. High growth is anticipated at FRC, especially as the “Above and Beyond” facility expansion and renovation is completed. Given the demographics of Cumming, GA and the track record of the family oriented style of ministry at FRC, the level of that growth will be partially predicated upon the abilities of the new Family Pastor.

The effective Family Pastor will have 5-7 years of relevant experience directing and leading a large children’s ministry in a similar church setting. He will have a demonstrated ability to grow a ministry in both numbers and spiritual depth. He will hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. An advanced degree in biblical studies, seminary training, or divinity is preferred, but not required.

Forsyth County, where First Redeemer is located, is one of the fastest growing counties in the country. Currently, 84% of families in the community are un-churched, providing First Redeemer with a great opportunity for outreach within their own community. As of 2014, there are 22,000 children (under the age of 15) within 10 minutes of the campus and 61% of the homes within 10 minutes of the campus have children. Forsyth County is the number one school district in the state of Georgia, is recognized as the “healthiest” county in the state, and continues to be one of the fastest growing counties in America. New neighborhood construction is accelerating at a rapid pace.

The church is located in an area comprised of upper-middle class families where professionalism and excellence are valued. Since North Atlanta has a growing corporate presence, the communities around the church include many corporate professionals who have relocated their families to pursue career opportunities. Families in the area value quality programming and safe, “cutting edge” environments for their children, and First Redeemer strives to provide those settings.
