Job Description:

Epic Church is a multisite, contemporary, non-denominational Christian church located in Philadelphia. (whew, lots of descriptive words!)


We began in 2008 and have grown to over 1500 attending weekly across three (soon to be four) locations. More about that here: Epic draws a diverse crowd, but our largest demographic is young professionals.


Philadelphia is the 5th largest city in America with 1.5 million people. And we are 100% committed to leading as many as we can into a growing relationship with Jesus. That’s where you come in.


We’re looking for a leader who’s excited about the opportunity to grow with Epic and experience first-hand what God is doing in Philadelphia.


Here’s the big picture:

The Worship Arts Director (WAD) is responsible to provide vision and direction for the music at all of Epic’s locations and develop the future of the music department as the church continues to grow and expand.


The WAD will ensure a great worship experience across all locations that glorifies God and engages the hearts of many. They will work to recruit, develop, and expand worship teams, lead and develop other worship leaders and staff, and work to create the future of Epic’s music department as a whole.  


Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of worship leading in a local church.

  • Proficiency in voice and keyboard or guitar.

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • A desire to always look for ways to make things better and the ability to evaluate and improve processes.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.

  • Ability to recruit, motivate, and build teams.

  • Ability to create, coordinate and lead a worship experience with a team.

  • Ability to be organized and able to stay on top of administrative duties.

  • Ability to learn and use Planning Center Online software.

  • Ability to learn and use Ableton Live software.

  • Ability to learn and use Propresenter software.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of Epic’s music department including oversight of structures and systems.

  • Create, coordinate, and provide leadership of weekend worship experiences.

  • Lead, manage, and develop Epic’s worship leaders.

  • Oversee the training and development of Epic’s worship vocal/band teams.

  • Oversee the coordination of worship for special events/holidays (Baptisms, Christmas Eve, etc.).

  • Responsible to champion the ongoing development of the music department by creating and implementing strategies to move forward and get better.

  • Research model churches regarding their approach to worship.
