Job Description:

Queen’s Chapel UMC is seeking a Church Administrator with previous experience supporting churches for a full time position in Beltsville, MD.  Queen’s Chapel has been a part of the Beltsville community for 145 years.  We are a rapidly growing congregation with average Sunday attendance of over 300 congregants.  We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented person to assist us in becoming more efficient in our administrative management processes.

 

The Church Administrator will provide a broad complement of administrative management critical to the successful operations of the church. Typical activities include:

  • Creating the Sunday bulletin and special event programs (MS Publisher, Quark)
  • Planning and coordinating meetings
  • Document preparation (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Managing the schedule of the pastor (Google calendar)
  • Maintaining the church calendar
  • Coordinating travel for the pastor and annual conference participants,
  • Preparing correspondence and e-mails on behalf of pastor and other church leaders
  • Working with the leaders of the church to maintain the balance of administrative, business, and programmatic needs
  • Maintaining membership databases
  • Providing support for church ministries
  • Serves as the point of contact for anyone making inquiries of the church
  • Manages volunteer office staff. 

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated office/administrative management experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting a church
  • Familiar and comfortable with the intricacies of working in a church environment
  • Strong computer skills to include MS Office and relational databases such as PowerChurch
  • Comfortable in web based environments and with electronic communication to include email, instant messenger, and social media
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and editing skills
  • Able to multi-task and organize others for optimum efficiency
