Job Description:

Christ Chapel is Word-based, Spirit empowered and Discipleship focused church that is located in the Shoals area of Northern Alabama. Christ Chapel was founded 35 years ago by Pastor Doc Shell who retired in September 2014. Pastor Bobby Gourley has since transitioned into the role of senior pastor. The church has since been in a growth season with many more young adults and young families coming to the church. There is an energy and vibrancy for growth in each department of the church. The leadership is developmental and strategic to reach the world for Jesus. There is a heavy missions focus around the world. The vision of the church is Christ in every heart, wholeness for every person, and ministry for every saint.


The student ministries pastor will be responsible for the development of students from 7th-12th grade into godly adults. This will include outreach, discipleship, and leadership development stategies. The candidate will also need a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn and grow. The student ministries pastor needs to be a team builder who is relational and has the ability to engage students and parents as well. The student ministries pastor will also be responsible for planning mission trips, youth camps, and retreats to help students build community and have spiritual experiences outside of their normal environments.


There is opportunity for this position to be adapted to the candidate's giftings. This is a great opportunity for a young pastor who wants to developed and equipped to grow in ministry or a seasoned youth pastor looking for an opportunity with a high ceiling of opportunities.


Florence has a population of 40,000 and the Shoals area has a poplulation of 200,000. It is home of the University of Northern Alabama, a vibrant downtown area, a great music scene, and plenty of outdoors activities. It is a great place to raise children with many activities of a large city but the feel and safety of a small town.
