Part-time,  20 hours/week

Mt Carmel Youth Ministries Mission

To intentionally and prayerfully lead the youth ministry program in a direction that disciples students into a relationship with Christ; that grows their faith in Christ; and prepares them to go into the world to reflect Christ.

Specific Duties

  • Coordinate adult volunteers.
  • Administer and manage the Jr and Sr High Youth Groups.
  • Plan and manage the annual Jr and Sr High Retreats (held separately).
  • Oversee the Jr and Sr High small groups.
  • Plan and manage the Sr High Mission Trip every two years.
  • Manage the Jr and Sr High involvement with annual Kingdom Week.
  • Attend Mt Carmel’s Sunday worship service.
  • Maintain communication with the youth with individual weekly contact.
  • Communicate with new students within one week of their attendance at a church event.
  • Frequent and complete communication with parents and entire church family.
  • Update web site with current youth events and announcements.
  • Develop and grow routine activities and programs, including but not limited to: Youth group, youth-led worship, small group Bible studies, seminars and spiritual retreats, mission, evangelism and service outreach to the local community.
  • Integrate parents and adults into the life of youth ministry, with a goal of an adult volunteer/student ratio of 1:5.
  • Coordinate an awareness effort to youth opportunities within the church, school and community.
  • Participate with the Youth Committee in a monthly evaluation and assessment of strengths and weaknesses of all the youth leaders.
  • Demonstration of a numeric trend in attendance in our youth activities.
  • Continuation of own personal and spiritual growth through daily devotional time and study, periodic times of retreat and relaxation, and committing one full day each week as a day of Sabbath.

 

Specific Duties (con’t)

  • Attend Session meetings on request.
  • Full participating member of the Youth Committee.

  • Deep and abiding love for the Lord, Jesus Christ, and a hunger for His Word.
  • Belief that the Bible is the Holy, inspired Word of God, inerrant in all that it teaches
  • Passionate commitment to come alongside the youth of our communities and invest in their spiritual growth.
  • Clear sense of call to youth ministry in the church.
  • Strong desire to teach the application of Christian faith through their own life experience.
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to create and maintain healthy relationships with the parents and adults of the church family.
  • Eagerness to abide by the guidance of the Holy Spirit; a willing listener.
  • Desire to create opportunities for youth to apply their faith in the context of community, locally, nationally, globally.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Perseverance in their relationship with each youth.
  • Ability to be a strong team leader to the adult volunteers.

 

Experience/Education Requirements

Undergraduate degree in Youth Ministry or related field is preferred.

Experience as a leader in a youth ministry context is required.

Music background helpful.
