Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate for Pastor:
a. Shall believe that he has been called into the ministry by God. He shall meet the qualifications for a minister as recorded in the Holy Scriptures (I Timothy 3:2-7)
b. Shall subscribe to the "Baptist Faith and Message" adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 1963, and to the covenant of this church and to its established policies.
c. Shall be a graduate of an accredited College or University.
d. Shall be a graduate of an accredited seminary affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention or the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
e. Shall have had five to ten years of experience in one or more pastorates.
f. Shall have basic knowledge and skills, such as: knowledge of the Bible, oral and written communication skills, leadership abilities, planning skills, and a strong desire to share the Word of God.
g. Shall have the ability to operate a personal computer and be proficient with Microsoft Office, email and navigating the internet.
h. Shall be able to operate other ancillary office equipment such as a copier and scanner.
i. Shall have a desire to work hard and complete tasks
As a Pastor working on this field, he will be expected to:
a. Be responsible for leading the church to function as a New Testament church.
b. Lead the congregation, the organizations, and the church staff to perform their tasks.
c. Be the under shepherd of the church and be responsible for leading the church Pastoral ministries. As such he will work with the Deacons, church staff and church members to:
(1) Lead the church, through congregational governance, in the achievement of its mission in compliance with the mission statement given in the Church's Constitution and By-Laws,
(2) Proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers, and
(3) Care for the church's members and other persons in the community, including counseling and visitation.
d. Be ex-officio member of all committees.
e. Serve as moderator at all business meetings of the church.
f. Serve as administrator of the church.
g. Officially represent Rural Shade Baptist Church at meetings of the Tryon-Evergreen Baptist Association, the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Southern Baptist Convention.
h. Serve as chairman of the church council.
i. Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies, or approve those who may be invited to conduct such services and ceremonies in this church.
j. Supervise and manage all of the church staff (including paid, full-time, part-time, and voluntary, etc.).
