Job Description:

Position: Outreach Pastor


Vision: Responsible for leading Mariners Church Irvine outreach ministries to the poor and marginalized locally and globally and facilitating the success of outreach across our Network of churches


I. Responsibilities:

a. Collaborates with the Irvine Lead Pastor and Team for execution of strategic plan
b. Partners with Life Groups to develop and implement the loop / discipleship strategy
c. Responsible for supporting and resourcing Outreach Ministries at all churches
d. Accountable to develop and manage Outreach budget in compliance with financial philosophy
e. Accountable for Fund Development strategy with emphasis on donor appreciation
f. Accountable for Business Administration functions in partnership with Shared Services (finance, metrics, database, communications)
g. Develops, manages and works through Outreach leadership team in alignment with church mission, vision, values and strategy (the loop) to accomplish ministry objectives
i. Development of staff and leaders with spiritual growth a priority
ii. Maintains balance between mobilizing the church and serving those in need locally and globally
iii. Develops and implements overall Outreach ‘funnel’
iv. Vision and execution of outreach weekends
v. Ensures a best in class Assimilation Process focused on volunteer care and retention


II. Qualifications
a. Demonstrates strong and growing walk with Christ
b. Strong inter-personal & conflict resolution skills
c. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
d. Skilled systems architect and implementer
e. Proven ministry experience managing staff and recruiting & working with volunteers/leaders
f. Strong leadership experience in large organizations
g. Skilled at developing cross-functional collaborations and partnerships
h. Demonstrated servant’s heart
i. Ability to prioritize care for people/relationships above results without sacrificing desired outcomes
j. Ability to see ‘big picture’ and think/operate strategically
k. Able to develop and implement a system that delivers against a vision
l. Ability to drive progress while discerning God’s plans and adapting


III. Other Ministry Responsibilities
a. Pastoral Care Team (POD)
b. Rooted Participation


IV. Expectations/Requirements
a. Maintains a consistent devotional time with God
b. Models the loop with participation in Rooted, Life Groups and Outreach
c. Understands it is a privilege to serve the Lord in vocational ministry. Those who serve God on staff at Mariners Church are expected to embrace a high biblical standard of personal conduct and lifestyle both public and personal, and sign the Leadership Commitment agreement.
d. Agrees with and lives out the vision and values of Mariners Church and adheres to the guidelines and conditions for employment as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
