The beginnings of Brick Reformed Church date back to the fall of 1748, when George Valentine Klapp and his brother, Ludwig, traveled from Pennsylvania to North Carolina in order to purchase several acres of land to establish a new church. This church, which was instrumental in launching the German Reformed Church movement, would later be called Brick Reformed Church, as it was one of the first buildings of its kind in the Burlington, North Carolina, area to be made of all brick.

Brick Reformed Church has had a number of prominent leaders and pastors throughout its history, with a variety of denominational backgrounds, including Congregational Christian, Evangelical, and Reformed. In 1956, at the height of its membership, Brick Reformed Church became a part of the United Church of Christ, of which it remained a member through 2014. No longer a part of the UCC, Brick Reformed Church is now committed, more than ever before, to expand its reach and impact throughout the Burlington, North Carolina, region. This congregation of just over a hundred members recently inherited 11 additional acres of land, where they plan to develop an additional multipurpose building, as well as continual improvements to its existing worship facility and original chapel sanctuary. The church will soon aim to register and designate the chapel sanctuary as a national historic landmark.

Brick Reformed Church is searching for a Senior pastor who will not only be responsible for the teaching and liturgical direction of weekend services at Brick Reformed Church, but also help further develop the vision and ministry framework of the church, and to aid in its ability to grow and impact the surrounding community of Burlington, North Carolina.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of growing a ministry and of working in a ministry setting that is multi-generational and spans several socio-economic lines. The candidate will have had experience providing vision and mobilizing both volunteers and leaders in a church of 200 attendees or greater. The Senior Pastor must possess a passion for connecting with youth and young families, while maintaining a respect for the history, heritage, and ministry traditions of the church.
