In 1985, God planted a desire in the hearts of 17 people to start a major movement of faith in Northwest Austin: a Bible-based church that was free from denominational limitations, but responsible to work in conjunction with a local association of like-minded churches. On January 5, 1986, the first worship service of Hill Country Bible church was held at a local elementary school with 75 people in attendance.

Through a series of miracles over the next several years, God provided Hill Country Bible Church (HCBC) the ability to purchase 30 acres of land on RR 620 and build facilities to accommodate a growing ministry. Believing that they were not called to simply expand in a single location, the HCBC elders determined to follow the model of evangelism and discipleship established by the New Testament church: planting strategically located regional churches that would reflect the unique demographic, sociological, and cultural make-up of that area. In 1992, the idea for the Association of Hill Country Churches was conceived to accomplish this in Greater Austin.

The Executive Pastor of Ministries will serve as part of the Senior Leadership Team (along with the Senior Executive Pastor, a second Executive Pastor of Ministries, and the Business Pastor) that will oversee all operational and strategic activities at HCBC. This person will give leadership support to Ministry Team Leaders for Student, College Young Adult, Women, Men, Legacy, Singles, and Small Group Ministries.

The successful candidate will have earned an undergraduate degree, and a master’s degree from an accredited Bible college or seminary is preferred but not required. They will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching the unreached, with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new members. Proven experience in creative thinking, problem solving, and collaborative leadership in a fast-paced innovative environment is strongly preferred.

Hill Country Bible Church is located in Austin, Texas, home to over 1,800,000 residents in the MSA and a diverse culture. Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and often is ranked within the top 10 on many national lists. It is described as one of the youngest, best educated, creative, and technology-savvy cities. In 2004, Austin received the international honor of being selected the American Capital of Culture for its top notch museums, fine arts, popular culture, sports teams, and “unique happenings.” Since then, Austin has been living up to its motto "Keeping Austin Weird," abounding in coffee shops, eccentric stores, restaurants, food trucks, and festivals. Known as the “Live Music Capital of the World," Austin is known for its commitment to health and fitness. The city’s push toward healthy living also provides an environment for top health care systems. Austin boasts a warm climate, lakes, and swimming holes, as well as lush nature trails, parks, and wilderness preserves.
