Job Description:

The Ark Church in Conroe, Texas (just north of Houston) is seeking an experienced Lighting Director Team Member who has a passion for participating in planning, set-up, operation and maintenance of audio, video, and lighting equipment for worship services, conferences, and special events.  This position will have a strong emphasis on Lighting.

 

The Ark Church began in 1996 with Pastor Alan & Joy Clayton and 2 other couples coming out of Lakewood Church under founding pastor, John Osteen (Joel's father.)  We are a contemporary evangelical church with a charismatic background currently averaging 6,000-7,000 in weekly attendance.

 

This position is designed for a self-initiating, motivated, problem-solving action-oriented person.  Organization and administration are a must with the flexibility to both lead and follow, respond quickly and efficiently to on-call situations, and be able to work day's, some night's, and weekends.

TALENTS & ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Lighting for a Live/Worship/Broadcast environment

  • Experience in A/V/L equipment setup, installation, and operation

  • Able to demonstrate high proficiency with Jands Vista

  • Vectorworks/Illustrator/Google SketchUp - Experience A Must

  • Knowledge of Corporate Event Production, Schedules, and Workload

  • Experience with Mac, Windows, Linux

  • Knowledge of various lighting fixtures - (Conventional, LED, Intelligent)

  • Excellent initiative, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

  • Possess a willingness to serve

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining deadlines

  • Professional completion of time sensitive tasks related to weekly events and services

  • An effective troubleshooter with a cool head

  • Dependable, self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative

  • Not willing to cut corners

  • Training and building up of Volunteers


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Lighting Director for All Auditoriums and Venues

  • Maintain A/V/L equipment for service and security

  • Assist other ministries with Technical needs

  • Setup, install, maintain, and operate A/V/L systems equipment

  • Provide Lighting expertise for purchases, installations and outside events

  • Maintain A/V/L systems for all needed rooms and venues

 

LIGHTING DIRECTOR:

  • Lighting Director for All Auditoriums and Venues

  • Attend pre-planning meeting and rehearsals

  • Operate Lighting for rehearsals, services, special events

  • Provide Technical expertise and advice on lighting systems

  • Setup/Strike auditorium stages and other venues as required

  • Provide Lighting Designs in Vectorworks/Illustrator/Google SketchUp

 

INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE, AND SERVICE OF EQUIPMENT:

  • Assist with planning and installation of A/V/L and structured cabling

  • Document installation(s)

  • Technical equipment problem solving

  • Provide routine maintenance for all Lighting Equipment

  • Provide input for Project Budgets

  • An eye for detail and quality


STAGE:

  • Assist with Design and Construction of Stage Sets

  • Knowledge of Set Design, Construction, Safety

 

STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute and Attend required meetings

  • Meet with other departments to assist with Technical needs

  • Managing/leading volunteers and production sheets through Planning Center Online


Schedule:    Full Time

  • May require evening and weekend work to support various events and functions

  • Currently: Sunday and Wednesday worship services, and Thursday rehearsals


Pay: Competitive Salary

  • Based on experience and qualifications
