We are a vibrant, passionate and generous church committed to teaching God’s Word and making disciples that experience intimacy with God, intentional community, inner transformation and opportunities to impact the world.  Growing together and reaching out in love is our DNA!  Our church of approximately 650 people in southeast Michigan, is strategically located between Ann Arbor and metro Detroit.  We reside in and serve a fabulous community!  Our staff is a collaborative team and includes directors of:  worship arts, outreach, children’s ministry, youth, executive director and two pastoral positions including this one.  




Position Title:  Assistant Pastor of Christian Formation & Community Life

Classification:  Full-time, salaried, 50 hrs/wk

Accountable to:  Executive Director in conjunction with Lead Pastor

Education:  Seminary, ordained or ordainable in the EPC

Experience:  Minimum 4 years in a church or Para-church organization, including leadership of a

                           significant ministry within the organization 




The pastor of Christian Formation and Community works collaboratively with Trinity’s pastors and staff to proclaim the gospel, to teach God’s Word, and to provide environments and experiences that nurture spiritual maturity and healthy community for people in all life and spiritual stages.   




  • Collaborate with Trinity staff and key volunteer leaders to strategically implement the vision and mission of the church; to reach out in love to all people, inviting them on the fantastic journey of becoming a life-long follower of Jesus Christ. 
  • In coordination with the Lead Pastor provide vision, leadership, oversight, strategic implementation and evaluation for all adult formation ministries including but not limited to Journey Groups, Discovery Groups, Sunday and Wednesday adult classes
  • Provide consistent training, coaching, encouragement and appreciation for all formation leaders
  • Assist Lead Pastor and worship director with sermon series, worship planning and implementation; preach 6x or more a year
  • Provide consistent training, coaching, encouragement and appreciation for all community group leaders
  • Provide vision, leadership, implementation and assessment for effective assimilation systems and ministries that track and encourage service, relational connection and membership in the church for both the first time guest and long–time attendee
  • Plan, lead and implement environments and experiences, large group and small, that serve as a catalyst for relationship building and healthy, biblical community
  • Provide leadership, oversight and assessment for Sunday and Wednesday hospitality experiences
  • In coordination with the pastoral care staff provide leadership, oversight, effective operational systems and assessment for pastoral care of the congregation.  This may include but not be limited to visitation and the deacon ministry
