Christian Life Center in Dayton, Ohio - the Crossroads of America, has a Discipleship Team Leader position open. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that every congregant is invited into an intentional path of discipleship. They will oversee the process of connecting others to their next step, helping them grow in their involvement with the God-Sized Vision at CLC. The Discipleship Team Leader will be responsible for recruitment, training, and equipping of lay-leaders while maintaining oversight of all Discipleship Ministries.

  • Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle and to CLC’s Excellence in Ministry values
  • CLC Membership required, attends weekly service, and is actively involved in serving opportunities at CLC
  • Passionate follower of Jesus Christ
  • Three to five years of experience in the field of Group Life and Discipleship Processes 
  • Possesses the gifts of leadership, administration, and teaching 
  • Proven track record of ability to recruit, train, and develop lay-leaders
  • Effective communication skills, good listening and interpersonal skills
  • Heart and passion for people’s spiritual maturity
  • PC literacy with a good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • B.A. required






Next Step Groups

  • Recruit, train, motivate, supervise, and provide pastoral care to Next Step Group Leaders – includes Mid-week, Weekend, and Small Groups
  • Assist leaders in recruiting and building their teams
  • Establish positive relationships with leaders by regular communication and interaction with them
  • Provide for leadership development and oversee ways to communicate, support and equip leaders to become more effective in leading relationally strong spiritual groups. Assist in launching new Next Step Groups
  • Lead at least four mid-week Next Step group/class launches (quarterly) and two Small Group launches (fall and winter) per ministry year
  • Lead in developing and implementing Next Step groups/classes throughout the week
  • Lead in developing and implementing new Next Step group/classes on the weekend
  • Research, review and recommend resources and curriculum to leaders, provide on the Next Step group website section of the main CLC site
  • Provide and oversee a process to assimilate unconnected individuals into new or existing groups

  • Manage and monitor the Adult Education budgets throughout the year
  • Draft and submit the annual Adult Education budgets to the Executive Director
  • Identify and support key leaders who are willing and gifted to assist in the training



  •  Lead, giving clear direction, every congregant to find they place in ministry through their God–given Spiritual Gifts
  • Regularly evaluate an effective plan and strategy for on-going disciple-making
  • Lead in developing and implementing Water Baptism at CLC
  • Lead in developing and implementing our Discipleship Strategy
  • Lead in developing and implementing our New Believers Ministry
  • Regular participation in CLC101 and encourage Group Life participation


Men’s Ministry

  • Lead in developing and implementing Man Church
  • Build a leadership infrastructure using men
  • Communicate and interact regularly with leaders to establish positive relationships
  • Identify and support key leaders who are willing and gifted to assist in the training
  • Develop a plan for spiritual and numerical growth (Accountability groups/classes & groups, etc.)


Pastoral Duties

  • Minister through ongoing responsibilities like weddings, funerals, and hospital visits
  • Perform rotational on-call duties one week per two months


Prayer Ministry (12 Months Later)

  •  Manage and develop lay leaders in the Prayer Ministry
  • Communicate and interact regularly with leaders to establish positive relationships with them
  • Assist the Prayer Ministry Coordinator in identifying and recruiting volunteers to serve, and in the planning and promoting of Prayer events
  • Submit prayer requests from the website, prayer chain, prayer boxes, e-mail, etc. daily
