Job Description:

Montrose Church is a healthy and growing ministry that has served the Crescenta Valley area of Los Angeles since 1927. Pastor Dave Robert has pastored the congregation for over 25 years, helping to create an atmosphere that is a safe place for people to feel at ease, and sense God’s love that meets them where they are. Their services combine today’s music, Biblical teaching, and stories of real people whose lives are changing. Montrose Church recently added a second campus in Pasadena, helping to expand the impact of this exciting and expanding ministry.


General Description and Responsibilities:

The children’s pastor will be responsible to develop and coordinate all children’s ministries at Montrose Church and additional campuses. This includes coordinating all weekly children events, developing volunteer leaders, and creating a yearly program calendar. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate Sunday children’s church program
  • Coordinate Wednesday evening children’s church program
  • Plan and implement any annual retreats
  • Provide needed support and referral for parents
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to support the children’s ministry program
  • Coordinate annual Vacation Bible School programs in conjunction with other staff
  • Mentor and guide Interns assigned to Children’s ministry
  • Assist student ministry staff with their ministry as able
  • Create comprehensive plan for elementary students to move into Junior High School ministry
  • Set the vision for the programs and how we can continue to grow them.
  • Select and review the curriculum
  • Coordinate the annual Christmas musical
  • Provide assistance to help secure childcare for other church activities, in conjunction with other staff members

Personal Qualifications:

  • A personal faith relationship with Jesus, that is reflected in a life of love, joy and respectable character as a role model
  • A love of working with kids, helping them to thrive in their own personal and spiritual development
  • A bachelor’s degree in child development or similar discipline
  • Previous experience in children ministry or education
  • Ability to oversee and administrate a children’s ministry department with volunteers

Salary Range: Depends upon experience; Negotiable
