Port City Community Church is a non-denominational, evangelical church that began meeting in the fall of 1999 at a rented middle school auditorium in Wilmington, North Carolina. Port City Community Church is now one church in four locations, with three satellite campuses and a goal of reaching a total of 20,000 people by the year 2020. With a highly focused vision to "reach people and help them walk with God," Port City Community Church is poised to make a tremendous impact for the Kingdom of God for years to come. 


The Missions Director of Port City Community Church will be responsible for leading all missional ministry efforts in the surrounding communities and area of Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as all state-wide and international church ministry efforts. The Missions Director will shape and steward the vision that Port City Community Church has for both local and foreign missions and will help translate that vision into practical strategies and activities that are consistent with the church's values and existing local outreach relationships. The Missions Director will oversee two staff coordinators, and together, help to expand Port City Community Church's major partnerships in Kenya, Italy, Guatemala, and in other parts of the world.


The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, and an advanced degree in cross-cultural ministry or business is preferred. The Missions Director must have a strong working knowledge of theology and contemporary missions, as well as substantial business acumen for organizational development. The Missions Director will be an established and respected leader with a proven track record of working with large churches and/or non-profit organizations to help establish and sustain new local and international mission assignments. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thought leader with experience in successfully mobilizing church volunteers toward collective action concerning missions.


As North Carolina’s most accessible coastal destination, Wilmington is best known for its scenic Riverwalk lined with boutiques, cafés, and vibrant nightlife along the Cape Fear River. The city has a historic charm with mossy oaks and Victorian and antebellum architecture. With just a short drive away from three island beaches, Wilmington is a natural beauty that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Wilmington serves as the principal city within a metropolitan area than has a combined population total of over 265,000.
