POSITION TITLE: Director of Children’s Ministry                  

REPORTS TO:  Senior Pastor

POSITION STATUS: Part-time or Full-time Employee depending on availability and experience/skill set of candidate

MEMBERSHIP STATUS: This position requires membership in First Baptist Church Stillwater

POSITION SUMMARY:  Create, manage, and direct all aspects of children’s ministry (birth through Fifth Grade) which includes Sunday School, Mid-Week Activities, Special Events, VBS, and childcare

PAY: Commensurate with skills and experience

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • High energy, entrepreneurial, and charismatic with deep organizational skills
  • Desire to work in children’s ministry as a way to serve God and advance His kingdom
  • Knowledge and skills to serve in children’s ministry
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work with children, volunteers, staff, and parents to coordinate children’s ministry
  • Ability to make changes, corrections and solve problems quickly under pressure
  • Clearance of criminal background check
  • Abide by all personnel policies of First Baptist Church Stillwater
  • Self-starter and high degree of discipline and strategic focus

 

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES OF CHURCH:

  • Servant attitude towards God, leaders, other team members, the church, and guests
  • A desire and ability to work as a team and cooperate with others to meet stated goals
  • Be punctual and attend all required events and activities
  • Follow directions and leadership of supervisor, Senior Pastor
  • Communicate openly and honestly with supervisor and staff about needs, problems, and ideas for improvement
  • Solve and resolve problems in a resourceful, Christ-like manner
  • Agree to abide by doctrinal tenets of the church as described in the bylaws

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Recruit and train Sunday School, Mid-Week, and Special Event Leaders and Volunteers
  • Prepare and manage budget for children’s ministry
  • Manage the distribution and allocation of curriculum and supplies
  • Encourage and support all volunteers including planning and fellowship
  • Obtain, edit, and distribute curriculum/crafts/supplies for workers
  • Schedule and coordinate placement of volunteer leaders and communicate with leaders as needed
  • Plan and support Children’s special events including marketing efforts—website, social media, print materials, etc.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of children’s ministry
  • Participate in church staff meetings
  • Participate in outreach to young families
  • Communicate children’s ministry activities to the church through periodic reports

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS

  • 4+ years experience in children’s ministry and/or management of children’s programs required
  • Four year college degree preferred
  • Microsoft Office capability
