JOB TITLE: Executive Pastor
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor
The Executive Pastor’s primary responsibilities fall into several categories: Education, Outreach, Assimilation, Operations and Pastoral Care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Lead the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive Christian Education Ministry.
a. Serve as an education resource person and advisor to the lay leadership to avoid conflict, duplications, and overlapping.
b. Make the church aware of the education and curriculum materials available and lead the church to choose and purchase the most suitable.
c. Present to the Stewardship Committee an annual budget for the educational ministry.
d. Develop special education and training projects such as camps, retreats, and study seminars for various age groups within the congregation.
e. Guide in the selection, enlistment, and training of Bible study leaders.
f. Recommend suitable educational building space and equipment.
g. Maintain an adequate system of records.
h. Direct and promote officers’ and teachers’ meetings.
2. Direct the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive Outreach ministry.
a. Work in cooperation with the appropriate persons, including the Nominating Committee, in selecting, enlisting, and training, members in the area of community outreach.
b. Organize outreach teams and outreach events.
3. Direct the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive Assimilation Ministry.
a. Work in cooperation with the appropriate persons, including the Nominating Committee, in selecting, enlisting, training, and counseling members into places of ministry and service.
b. Organize groups and/or courses that provide church attendees with opportunities to make membership commitments.
4. Administer the operations of the Church Office.
a. Lead the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive plan of business operation for the church.
b. Serve as a purchasing agent for the church.
c. Give general direction to the daily operation of the Church Office.
i. Supervise secretarial and clerical workers.
ii. Help create and administer church policies and procedures after church approval
d. Work with all church leadership on projecting and evaluating needs for additional building and more efficient use of present space.
5. Lead the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive Pastoral Care Ministry.
a. Be aware of the spiritual needs of the ministry area.
i. Plan and coordinate the visitation to hospitals, care facilities, and homes for members in need of pastoral care.
ii. Coordinate with deacons and Sunday School leaders the pastoral care needs and opportunities of members.
b. Work in coordination with the pastor and other ministerial staff to insure a balance ministry presence.
6. Perform other duties as assigned under the supervision of the pastor.
