By 2000, the congregation had more than doubled, and in 2005, Shepherd built and opened the Family Life Center housing additional office space, a youth room and a full basketball court gymnasium and Pastor Dudley began to share his ideas for offering new venues and multiple campuses. By 2008, Shepherd had successfully produced four satellite campuses, a Spanish-speaking service and three self-sufficient churches all within the Los Angeles County. When attendance reached over 8,000 people in 2009, by the following year, Shepherd embarked upon the Miracle in the Making campaign to raise the funds for a new building. In 2012, the Spanish-speaking service has become an independent church, while the Miracle in the Making campaign has raised more than half the funds needed for the coming building. Decades of history continues to prove to Shepherd that God is good all the time, and the best is yet to come. SC will be breaking ground in January 2015.




Under the leadership of Mike Williams – an outstanding, veteran Pastor of children – SC is reaching out to find an Assistant Children’s Pastor/Director who can compliment his existing ministry team. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a highly motivated leader who wants to be involved in every aspect of leading children and families while being nurtured by a seasoned children’s Pastor who has “seen it all” and has both a national and worldwide perspective on reaching children with the gospel.


Currently SC continues to carry on a great tradition of ministry to children through the primary approach of teaching God’s Word creatively through large-group gatherings and small-group impact, with a high emphasis placed on community outreach. A high value for SC leadership on all levels is placed on the children’s ministry, and resources are given in abundance to keep this ministry a priority. For SC, the non-negotiable items for children’s ministry are evangelism, a solid Bible teaching scope and sequence to provide a great place for new families to get connected. On Saturday evenings, the 5:00 service features a unique children’s theatre program which draws from the Orange 252 curriculum and utilizes a team of skilled actors and worship leaders who entertain and engage kids and parents together in God’s Word.


The children’s ministry of SC is healthy, well staffed, has outstanding policies in place and is focused on a mission to reach and disciple the masses. The ministry is just as focused on families as they are on children. With the essentials in place (Bible-based, age-appropriate, outreach focused), the children’s ministry team at SC is looking to add an assistant Children’s Pastor/Director who is full of energy and able to work on the fly and excel within a “no rooms closed” environment that is always recruiting and moving with Senior Pastor Dudley’s exciting vision and pace. Shepherd Church majors on large events that compliment the weekend programs and draw in thousands of people. The weekend services and large community events continue to be the open door to reaching young families. The new assistant children’s Pastor/Director must be organized, willing to jump in the trenches, able to flex on the go, create and cast vision and eager to let go of ego and be part of a team approach that serves and motivates 450-480 volunteers per weekend.

  • High ministry competency (a veteran of children’s conferences, networking)
  • Able to be highly engaging as a leader of families
  • Able to develop a team-oriented culture through training, mentoring, and teaching
  • Experienced in leading ministries that reach 200+ children
  • Committed to and doctrinally aligned with the Vision, Mission and Values of SC Reports To / Relates Closely With: Children’s Pastor / other staff including children’s ministry team


Provides Oversight To:

  • Existing and future families, existing part-time directors
  • Future paid staff overseeing divisions (early childhood, later childhood, worship, etc.)
  • All volunteers (including the recruitment of both youth and parents) ?Primary Responsibilities:
  • Live a healthy balanced lifestyle that honors God, family, and others
  • Provide overall leadership to the Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers
  • Lead the structure and design of children’s weekend services in a team environment
  • Facilitate creative children’s and family events (Summer VBS outreach, camps, outings)
  • Function as both an administrator and Pastor to kids and parents
  • Revitalize and maintain a healthy, effective volunteer team of parents and teens
  • Communicate with and equip parents to be involved in the spiritual formation of their child
  • Build a family culture that is continually connecting new kids and families


Other Responsibilities:

  • Recruit volunteers and skilled staff and develop current staff to grow into their God-given potential
  • Co-produce outreach events that are strategic to the overall vision and mission of the church
  • Assist with the implementation of an effective annual ministry budget. 


Compensation Package:

  • Compensation is negotiable based on minstry expereince
  • Total compensation with full-time benefits including medical/dental/vision, life insurance, 403(b).
