Overview

We are seeking candidates that  are called into ministry, hardworking and team oriented, have proven leadership ability,  are proficient  musically (vocally and instrumentally), and  have the ability to minister in several areas within the church.

 

Requirements for applying:

*Potential Candidates should submit a resume that clearly demonstrates experience and involvement in a local church setting.  (whether paid or volunteer)

*Submit a video of yourself leading worship in a live setting.  If you do not have a video such as this, we will accept a video of you playing and singing.  

*Submit a picture of yourself and your family (if married)

*include references that can confirm your personal character as well as your abilities (at least one of these should be a  Pastor that you have served with)

 

 

Qualifications:

* Prefer individual with a college degree.  (Does not necessarily need to be music specific)

*Should have a minimum of 5 years of leading worship at some level.

*Should have a working knowledge of all instruments typically used in a band (guitar (acoustic and lead), drums, bass, keyboards)

*Should be highly proficient on at least one instrument  but should be comfortable leading with or without an instrument. Should be able to play/lead off chart.

*Experience in working with loops and click tracks would be a plus.

*Should possess the perspective of helping to teach others to lead "up front" as opposed to being the person who is always up front.

*Should be on board with the direction that New Covenant is going musically and have the perspective of helping us achieve our goals as opposed to thinking they need to redo our worship ministry. 

*Must have the ability/experience to assist NC in another area of ministry.  (We do one weekend service a week with an average of 5 songs per weekend.  We cannot pay an appropriate salary to someone who only does music.   This is why we prefer somone who feels caled into the ministry and not just someone who "only wants to play music")

* Should have a biblical view concerning submission and authority aa well as a clear understanding that they will operate under the general oversight of the elders and the specific oversight of the Pastor.  This understanding should include that they are being brought on to assist the Pastor in the direction we are going... not to create a direction.

*The ideal candidate will be an expressive worshipper themselves.   We believe that the Worship Team should lead by example and that the leader should not always be "hidden" behind a guitar.   

 

Job Description:

*Oversee the scheduling of individuals serving on the Worship Team and the Production/Tech Team.

*Conduct weekly practices with Worship Team.

*Recruit and advise potential volunteers (vocal, instrumental, tech)

*Oversee all sound, lighing,  production issues.

*In conjunction with the Pastor,  assist in planning for weekend services, series, and special services.

*In conjunction with the Pastor, select songs that will be added to our rotation of songs.  

* Other responsibilities in areas that will be determined by the needs of the church and the abilities/experience of the invididual hired. 

 

General Info about this position:

*We currently have 3 interim (part time) people who oversee this area.

*We are replacing an individual that was here for five years and did an excellent job of  taking our band to the "next level".

*Our Worship Team is strong instrumentally as well as vocally with most of the members having been with the team for 5+ years... some as long as 14 years.   Very committed group.

*Our congregation is very involved in the worship and we make every effort to stay away from things that would lend themselves to a performance oriented service.

*We do not do blended worship.   We are fairly current on the songs that are out there.   We have a rotation set up that enables us to bring in new songs on a fairly regular basis.

*We use scripture readings, videos and other elements in our worship times to focus and enhance the worship experience.

*We are progressive yet remain committed to songs that are strong lyrically (biblically correct) and all songs are checked by the Pastor before being used in any service.  In other words we consider words first, then we look at how it sounds.

*We have a fantastic sound system and have everyone on stage using in ear monitors.

*This team is well above the average church team out there and we believe most leaders would love to walk into this setup.

* We are not in a crisis situation and are willing to wait for the right person.   That being said,  we would still prefer to hire someone sooner rather than later.

 

General Info about the church:

*We are 14 years old with the founding Pastor currently pastoring

*We have experienced much  growth over the summer and are on the verge of two services as well as seriously considering building a new sanctuary with a seating capacity of 600.

*We are staff led and elder governed.

*We place significant value on our small groups which we call "Community Groups".   We have 70% of our attending average in a small group.

* We have a fantastic youth progam which averages close to 70 each week as well as a growing college and carreer group that has over 40 on its role.

*Our fastest growing demographic is young couples at this point with colleg age adults close behind.

*We do not try to cater to just the young or just the old but to all who come to our church.  Because of this we have a very diverse and well-rounded congregation.

* We have a growing presense in our community and have an on-going missions outreach to the community as well as yearly mission trips that are used to go and support missionaries that we support on a monthly basis

 

Salary

The compensation for this position will be comenserate with experience and  the abilities of the person hired to help cover other bases in the church.
