Job Description:

TITLE: Graphics and Communications Director


REPORTS TO: Executive Pastor


RELATES CLOSELY WITH: Senior Pastor, Children’s Ministry, Technical Teams, Connections Ministry, Family Ministry, Discipleship Ministry, and Support Staff


HOURS: Full Time – 40-50 hours per week


OBJECTIVE: The Graphics & Communications Director will fulfill the vision and goals of First Christian through creative and effective communication. This individual will create branded communications in an organized and timely manner, including, but not limited to, graphic art, print collateral, web development and social media. Candidates should be all in with the vision of Reach, Win, and Grow. Working in advance on projects, attending regular staff and creative team meetings, and keeping a pulse on the overall happenings of First Christian is required.



Graphic Design:

  • Create design and layout for many communication projects, including, but not limited to the weekly bulletin, weekly e-newsletter, various print mailings, website, and signage.
  • Collaborate with senior pastor to brainstorm, research, and create sermon series art 4-6 weeks in advance of each series launch; provide various forms of the chosen art for various communication vehicles.
  • Collaborate with other members of the First Christian Staff to ensure open communication.
  • Design within the style guide established to ensure consistency of brand.

Communication Director:

  • Oversee production, editing, and upkeep of many communication projects, including but not limited to, sermon series art, the weekly bulletin, weekly e-newsletter, various print mailings, website, social media, and signage.
  • Proofread and edit as required on all communication pieces.
  • Maintain and review communications dashboard to ensure the various messages of the church are being communicated in appropriate ways.
  • Update and maintain social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter to engage daily with the community through the week.
  • Write and distribute press releases to local media outlets as needed.
  • Collaborate with other members of the First Christian Staff to ensure open communication. 

Website Management:

  • Develop and upload graphic and content for the website.
  • Make seamless integration between the website and social media.
  • Ensure the website provider meets the desired functionalities, formats, and functions desired.
  • Work to implement and develop content for a mobile app.


1. Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience,

2. Minimum 5 years experience preferred,

3. Demonstrate an Ongoing Relationship with Jesus Christ,

4. Must possess organizational and administration abilities,

5. Expert level written and verbal communication skills as well as proofreading and editing skills,

6. A lover of typography, including proper leading and kerning techniques,

7. A strong working knowledge of brand development and the creative process,

8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,

9. Ability to be flexible to changing priorities,

10. Project Management,

11. Confidential, Helpful, Cheerful, Diplomatic, and Caring Positive Attitude to ALL,

12. Ability to Prioritize and Multi-Task,

13. Attention to Detail,

14. Knowledge of pre-press operations,

15. Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills,

17. Proficient in Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office Suite,

18. Knack for photography,

19. Work fast to meet hard deadlines (i.e.: days NOT weeks), and

20. Must attend worship services regularly and participate as an active member of First Christian.
