McLean Bible Church was founded in 1961, when five families came together to form a non-denominational church where the Bible would be taught. For three years, the church met in homes, schools, and other facilities until they finally got a building of their own in 1964, where McLean Bible Church remained for the next 20 years.

30 years later, Mclean Bible Church (MBC) has more than 11,000 people attending each week at its seven campuses in the greater Washington, DC area. McLean Bible Church's reputation in the community is pristine. With a vision and track record for reaching the lost, growing believers, and impacting the community, the church is poised for continued growth in the coming years.

The Director of Volunteers is responsible for the overall visioning, leading, strategizing, and executing of a dynamic and growing volunteer ministry across all MBC Campuses. Specific responsibilities include training, equipping, and motivating current department leaders, pastors, and staff across all MBC Campuses to effectively recruit, train, and deploy volunteers in ministries. This role will establish and maintain healthy relationships with congregational members and ministry leaders across campuses and departments. The successful candidate will strengthen database records to consistently capture and maintain information about congregational skills and ministry interests.

Education is not a determining factor for the new The Director of Volunteers, however it is likely that he/she will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Strong preference will be given to those who have shown they have led, grown, and developed a successful volunteer ministry in a large church, ministry, or organization. Experience in a large multi-site church is strongly preferred. Proven experience in creative thinking, problem solving, and collaborative leadership in a fast-paced innovative environment – especially in a multi-site church –  is strongly preferred. While the ability to communicate well is a must, the successful candidate must have a deep love for people and a passion for helping them identify their gifts and putting them to use in service.
