Job Description:

Requirements:

- Experience & proficiency in meal planning (to include portion control & meal-cost determination) and preparation, event management, budgeting, and supervision of kitchen staff

- Must have Serve Safe certification or equivalent

- Knowledge of nutrition

- Most possess superior organizational skills

- Knowledge of Shelby, MS Word, MS Excel & MS Outlook

- Must be Professional attired for work upon punctual arrival and provide first-class customer service

- Experience in a large church preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

- Shall be able to lift 40 lbs without aid from anyone

- Shall be able to stand and have walking mobility for up to 2 hours at a time

- Organize and direct many people at the same time

 

Primary Responsibilities:

- Ensure all food service practices comply with all applicable Federal, State and Local Ordinances

- Maintain Master Food Service Calendar

- Maintain records pertaining to the collection of all funds and then ensure the timely transfer of funds to the Finance Office

- Prepare monthly financial reports and prepare/process Purchase Orders, Check Requests, and Invoices within the time frame required by the Finance Office

- Supervise the daily operation of the kitchen staff to provide quality service

- Train kitchen staff to meet and/or exceed industry standards for sanitation and on-the-job safety

- Train and supervise all volunteers working in the kitchen/dining areas to ensure safe handling of food and utensils

- Maintain food preparation and food service areas to meet and/or exceed health department and industry standards

- Supervise all cooking operations, methods of preparation, and portioning

- Remain as flexible in scheduling as possible to meet demand, communicating to the staff, members and guests the limits imposed by vendor deliveries and time constraints of thawing, preparation, serving and inventory on hand

- Plan and coordinate events such as banquets, receptions, and meals

- Consult with staff members and choose recipes/menus

- Ensure all equipment is in clean, working order

- Hire and supervise contractors for equipment repair and maintenance

- Purchase all equipment and supplies related to food services

- Other duties as assigned
