Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church ( is a young and rapidly growing church in the Hamilton Mill suburb north of Atlanta--an area known for its excellent schools and nationally recognized park systems for running, walking, and family leisure. In 2013, the Church had an average weekly worship attendance of more than 1100. In 2015, the Church will break ground on a new 800 seat multi-purpose facility. 


The Children’s Ministry recently created a new children’s worship space—The Rooftop—that is home to the ministry's large group worship experience/small group time model on Sunday mornings. 80+ volunteers help children grow spiritually and feel at home on Sunday morning. Beyond Sundays, the ministry regularly offers family mission days, family worship experiences, and a thriving VBS. The Church is also home to a preschool that was voted “Best in the County” in 2013.


HMUMC is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Children’s Ministry. The Associate Director will join a team of children’s ministry staff and dedicated volunteers who are focused on finding and implementing creative ways to spiritually prepare children for a life of discipleship.


The Associate Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for first time visitor follow up, recruitment, training and recognition of volunteers, and implementing Sunday a.m. small group and Wednesday night children’s programming. For seasonal events, the Associate is responsible for recruiting team members, and executing event plans. The Associate provides direct support to the Director of Children’s Ministries and the Children’s Council. The person in this role is to be an integral part of the Family Ministries team.


Qualified candidates should be strong in relationship building, communication, administration, and ministering to parents & children. Candidates should also have a proven track record of success in recruiting, empowering, developing, and equipping volunteers. Candidates that have previous children’s ministry experience and/or a college degree in education, ministry, or a related field are preferred. This person should be theologically aligned with HMUMC and exhibit professionalism.
