Hillside Community Church (Hillside) is a growing, dynamic, and externally-focused community church with historic ties to the American Baptist Church and current ties to an association of like-minded churches through Transformation Ministries. Hillside has
a strong vision and track record for reaching the unchurched and impacting the community for Christ. The vision to reach the city and change the world with the hope of the Gospel hasn't changed since the church was founded in 1979. The average attendance now
exceeds 2,500 and is made up of all generations and a multitude of children. The church has posted an annual positive growth rate the majority of its years, and with new state of the art facilities, is well positioned for continued growth in the coming years. The
best is yet to come for Hillside.
The successful candidate for Hillside's Children's Pastor will exhibit a passion for children and families to experience God together. Hillside has a history of focus on the next generation, and they regularly see close to 400 children weekly in church. This
person must be able to see not only the present, but what a vision of the future could be like. The Children’s Pastor will have responsibility for children from birth through fifth grade, and they will lead and grow Christ-centered, engaging, and relevant
ministry for children and their parents. They must be creative, strategic, and have superior communication skills. Being familiar with the Orange strategy and Sticky Faith philosophy would be hugely beneficial. They must be able to cast vision and set the
direction for the Children’s Ministry that is in alignment with the overall vision of Hillside, and they must have the ability to recruit, train, and deploy volunteers and leaders. They will be a team player that can work alongside the Family Ministry Team and
be a champion for Hillside, the staff, and the congregation.
The ideal candidate will most likely hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a discipline that relates to Children’s Ministry (e.g. Christian Education, Education, Child Development, Bible, etc.). Five years of experience in Children’s Ministry in a larger
church setting is highly preferred. The successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running when assuming the new role, and they must be a continual learner who wants to be in a learning culture and organization.
Rancho Cucamonga, California is one of three former areas that were incorporated into one city of in 1977. Hillside is in an area of Rancho Cucamonga formerly known as Alta Loma, which means “high hill,” and is nestled in the foothills on the south face
of the San Gabriel Mountains. Rancho Cucamonga is a moderately affluent area and is a part of San Bernardino County. It is almost entirely residential as, per a city ordinance, no commercial businesses may exist in most areas of the community. With its proximity
to Los Angeles and Orange County, Rancho Cucamonga offers all the benefits of suburban living with the amenities and opportunities of city life. Rancho Cucamonga is a great community for families, with great schools (some of the best in California), an abundance
of parks, sports programs, and a small town feel. There is easy access to everything southern California has to offer: beaches, Disneyland, Hollywood, mountains, hiking trails, and great weather.
