The Controller/Accounting Team Manager leads the Accounting Team to maximize return on financial assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing financial policies, procedures, controls, transaction-processing operations, and reporting systems for Cherry Hills Community Church and Cherry Hills School.

    Lead the Accounting Team to Resource Ministry Teams for High Impact

  • Manage and ensure all Accounting Team functions (Payroll, Accounts Payables/Receivables, Monthly Financial Close, Banking & Cash Management, and Financial Reporting) are completed in a timely, accurate, and excellent manner

  • Create and uphold empowering, value-add service level agreements
    Lead the Audit to Close With an Unqualified Audit Report (on an Annual Basis)

  • Manage and oversee the annual external audit with the our audit partner, Accounting Department employees, CFO and elder Finance Committee

  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audi

  • Manage Annual Budget Production and Ensure CHCC Meets Budget Goals
  • Work in conjunction with the CFO to drive the annual budgeting process with Executive Team, Leadership Team, budget owners and elder Finance Committee

  • Oversee the monthly budget reporting process, working with budget owners on forecasting and spending controls to ensure adherence to budget targets

  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

  • Manage operating, capital, and restricted fund budget process and procedures

    Provide Timely, Accurate Financial Reporting and Analyses

  • Manage the monthly executive reporting process, ensuring Executive Team and Elder Board reports are completed timely and accurately

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements

  • Provide financial analyses as requested (capital investments, pricing decisions, and

    contract negotiations)

    Enforce Internal Controls and Manage Regulatory Compliance

  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

  • Ensure adherence and compliance with internal controls and department procedure

  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

  • Study existing and new legislation, advise management, and enforce adherence

  • Work with the Shared Services Director to ensure HR compliance

    Complete Other Accounting Transactions and Tasks

  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report

  • Ensure periodic bank reconciliations are completed

  • Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system

  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

  • Complete other duties as requested

Shared Services Director, CFO: The Controller/Accounting Team Manager reports directly to the Shared Services Director, and he/she is expected to be coachable, available, and responsive to his/her supervisor while striving for a healthy Christ-like relationship characterized by love, truth, unity, and collaboration. He/she will work closely with the SSD/CFO in all financial strategies, forecasting, and decision making.

Accounting Staff and Volunteers: The Controller/Accounting Team Manager will manage the Accounting staff and volunteer teams, providing leadership, development, and support to the teams to achieve maximum kingdom impact and operational excellence.

Department Supervisors: The Controller/Accounting Team Manager should embody and exhibit servant leadership in all interactions with Department Supervisors, providing them timely communication and support and educating and enabling them to appropriately manage their approved budget.

Shared Services Leadership Team: The Controller/Accounting Team Manager will be a member of the Shared Services Leadership Team, working across departments for the support of ministry execution.

Organizational Development Director: The ODD is responsible for ensuring all human resources across CHCC and CHCS are in alignment with the character, competence, chemistry, and culture expected of staff. All hiring and training of staff are done in conjunction with the ODD, and the Controller/Accounting Manager is expected to seek full consensus and teamwork with the ODD in human resourcing decisions and training. Furthermore, the ODD is mindful of all cross-departmental systems affecting our team working culture. The process for budgeting and communication between accounting and managers will be an important area for teamwork and collaboration.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent
Business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation
Preference will be given to candidates with the CPA or CMA designations
