Vanderbloemen Search Group is honored to conduct its third search for The Chapel. The Chapel is celebrating its 80th anniversary as a church, leading and serving in the greater Akron, Ohio area. The Chapel is now kicking off an exciting new era as the new Senior Pastor, Tim Armstrong, enters his role at the church. The Chapel began in a storefront in 1934 by Pastor Carl Burnham and a group of pioneers focused on the basics of the Bible, with an emphasis on Christ’s grace and love. Today, The Chapel is one church with three campuses located in Akron, Green, and Wadsworth. They offer different venues, worship styles, and times at these various campuses. The Chapel's Core Values are Worship, Community, and Mission, and their purpose is to worship God as a Christ-centered community, engaged in His mission.

The Chapel has a rich heritage of an ABF-based adult ministries/discipleship model. The new Director of Spiritual Maturity will assess, strengthen, develop, refine, and enrich the model by leveraging their experience and expertise in highly effective adult discipleship ministries. The Chapel is seeking visionary leadership in the areas of: comprehensive training and equipping systems for leaders/teachers, activation of adult groups to engage missional endeavors and serving opportunities, and being a mentor/coach/model for teaching and discipleship. This position is responsible to develop, execute, and coordinate a multi-generational spiritual maturity and discipleship strategy for the Akron Campus, and to be a networking resource to the other (and future) campuses for mutual mentoring and partnering.

The ideal candidate will have  at least 10 years of pastoral experience, including multi-campus exprience. They will also have a proven track record of working as a Pastor of Discipleship (or similar role) in a setting committed to reaching the unreached, working within a community, and promoting innovation through collaboration. They will show a high degree of effectiveness in leadership, communication, organizational skills, and strategic planning. In addition, the individual should show an ability to connect multi-generationally.
