JOB DESCRIPTION
WORSHIP ARTS DIRECTOR
NORTHWEST COVENANT CHURCH

 

Purpose: Our vision in all worship services is to: Worship God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, celebrate God’s reconciling love for all people and call people to follow Jesus. Our goal is to support the vision of our Church through the worship experiences.

 

I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Director of Worship Arts shall be responsible for designing and implementing worship services, in accordance with the mission and vision statements of the Church and at the direction of the Lead Pastor. The Director shall be responsible for all music at the Church, including but not limited to leadership of the Choirs and Worship Band, as well as special events involving music or drama as directed by the Lead Pastor in consultation with the Worship Board.

This is a full-time position.

 

II. RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Enhance the worship experience at Northwest Covenant Church in traditional and contemporary expressions to encourage spiritual growth and be consistent with the mission and goals of Northwest Covenant Church.

  2. Plan, prepare and lead the worship services incorporating music, the visual arts, multimedia, and dramatic presentations for our Contemporary and Traditional audiences.

  3. Develop, lead and oversee the music staff including the Children’s Choir Director, Hand Bell Choir Director, and other musicians including organist and accompanist.

  4. Develop, lead and oversee the whole music staff in planning and producing special performances and new approaches that enhance the congregational worship experience.

  5. Develop a long-range worship plan in collaboration with the Pastoral Staff.

  6. Enhance the worship experience at Northwest Covenant Church through the

    offerings of the Choir, Worship Band, Children’s Choir, Handbell Choir and other

    musicians of the Church.

  7. Procure and maintain the Choir, Worship Band and other music libraries, which

    includes arranging music for the different instruments and voices.

  8. Provide for rehearsals and coordinate Sanctuary Choir and Praise Team

    performances at worship services based on a schedule prearranged and agreed

    upon by the Lead Pastor.

  9. Collaborate with the Church staff in leading the planning and development of

    special worship activities.

  1. Select music that enhances and encourages the spiritual growth and worship experience of the congregation that is consistent with the mission statement and goals of Northwest Covenant Church

  2. Develop the annual budget for the Church’s worship program with the Chair of the Worship Board and approval of the Worship Board.

  3. Provide visionary leadership to the Worship Board in conjunction with the Pastoral Staff.

  4. Coordinate and oversee the sound technicians and ushers.

  5. Coordinate and oversee all the aesthetics of the worship space.

  6. Implement and coordinate an online library of worship services.

  7. Oversee maintenance of the Piano, Organ, sound system and other instruments

    owned by the Church.

III. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  Participate in Worship Board meetings.
  Participate in Council Meetings at the discretion of the Lead Pastor.

 

IV. ACCOUNTABILITY
  The Worship Arts Director is accountable to the Lead Pastor.

  A passion for worship
  A vibrant prayer life
  Supportive of a variety of worship styles, and be knowledgeable of a wide body of worship tools

  Musically qualified to lead and plan both traditional and contemporary worship A strong working          

     understanding of multimedia presentations
  A strong understanding and commitment to the Evangelical Covenant Church An ability to work well with

     a team

  Will become a member of Northwest Covenant Church Must be a citizen of or authorized to work in the U.S.

 

EDUCATION

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University Biblical and Theological training is preferred
Masters in a music field is preferred.
