Job Description:

Worship & Music Leader at a Protestant (Christian Reformed) church of about 100 in San Jose, CA


Lead our worship and singing during the Sunday morning worship service, working with a team of instrumentalists (bass and regular guitar, piano, keyboard, drums) and singers. We also use organ occasionally.
Our church’s style is a blended worship, with a combination of contemporary and traditional hymns and songs.
Experienced musician. Experienced leader a big plus.

Expected duties include:
-Meet with pastor weekly to plan services
-Determine which songs will be sung at the service (with pastor), as well as other elements of the service. Send worship plan and song words to secretary for preparing Powerpoint slides
Review song slides for accuracy (after secretary creates them)
-Send worship plan and song information to praise team
-Schedule singers and instrumentalists
-Practice with the praise teams on Thursday night, 7:30-9:00pm
-Practice with the praise teams before the services on Sunday morning, usually arriving at 8am to get ready.
-Lead the praise teams and congregation during the entire service.
-Begin this planning process on Monday in order to have the list determined by Wednesday night
-Work with the person in charge of our sound system and other team members to determine the best setup for sound and audio equipment, stage usage and so on.
-Meet periodically with the Worship & Arts Team chair and/or another representative of the Worship Team and/or Council representative to review how things are going and any concerns or suggestions regarding job performance.
Other duties as determined by the Worship & Arts committee and Council.

This is a part-time job.
