Canyon Lake Community Church is looking for a worship leader for our Threshold worship service(s). You would be responsible to lead worship for our 9:30am Sunday worship service as well as our new 11:00 service (starting this fall), working in cooperation
with the Threshold Teaching Pastor. In addition, you’ll hold a weekly rehearsal with the band and vocalists. Threshold is the most contemporary of the worship services at CLCC and meets in our (soon-to-be, newly remodeled) gymnasium. All of this assumes you
love Jesus and have an essential grasp of your theology.
To lead others in Christ-centered worship as you worship.
Lead Worshipper: You will lead worship of both the congregation and the band. This requires musical skill and vocal capability, but most importantly a humility that directs people’s attention to Jesus.
Team Leadership: You will need to mentor musicians at various talent levels, moving each toward greater excellence. In addition, you will help band members develop a gospel-centered understanding of worship.
Administration: You will be responsible for scheduling a weekly rehearsal, scheduling band members for Sunday’s service, providing charts, media files, etc. via Planning Center and coordinating with tech personnel.
You will also be responsible for developing teams of bands, so that we can have two or three bands to put in rotation.
Lover of God: William Temple defined worship this way: “Worship is the submission of all our nature to God.” That being said, you must demonstrate an authentic relationship with Christ that leads you to want to lead others to praise Him.
Here are three things you must cultivate in your life as a worship leader:
- A disciplined pursuit of God’s Word
- A desire to lead God’s people toward a greater awe and affection for Jesus
- A devotion to teaching and singing gospel-centered, Christ-exalting songs and hymns.
