Worship Minister Requirement Description

Bachelor's degree required – Worship, Music, Arts, or Ministerial-related degree, similar advanced degree a plus.  Either from a Southern Baptist-affiliated school considered a plus.   

At least 5 years experience providing worship leadership in churches of similar size, including all aspects of planning, coordination, and execution of Worship Arts function.

Solid technical skills including advanced vocals and proficiency in instrumentation, sound and visual mechanics, and worship planning software. 

Loyal team player with ability to multi-task, engage, and lead other church processes as needed through flexible work habits and adaptation to changing situations and ministry demands.

Worship Minister Responsibility Description

Lead a comprehensive worship and arts program.

Assist the Senior Pastor in planning the worship and arts program and its alignment with the core principles of the church.  “Focus on the big picture.”

Ensure effective weekly worship and arts operations including planning, scheduling, rehearsals, communications, services, evaluation, etc.  “Do the do” with completeness and quality.

Train, mentor, and equip other professional staff, lay leaders, students and future leaders as needed in worship and arts.  “Touch a tomorrow that we will never see.”

Follow the Senior Pastor’s leadership and cooperate with other ministry leaders to meet church objectives. Promote and guard the unity of the church and cooperative spirit of the staff.  Demonstrate “one team, one dream” with an uncompromising 24/7 mind-set.

Remain current on music methods, materials, promotion, and administration. “Stay relevant.”

Own the annual worship budget and adjust as needed its cost-effective administration.  “Live a life of Kingdom stewardship.”

Provide long-range planning aligned with long-term church objectives.  “Leave a legacy.”

Continually drive worship and arts improvements.  “Guard against complacency.”
