First Baptist Church Maryville is located in Maryville, Illinois 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis with convenient access to multiple interstates.  We are aligned with the Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention with current weekly worship attendance of 1,400+ and growing by continually expanding our services, facilities, and related ministries. Our weekly multi-generational contemporary worship services exalt Jesus Christ and motivate us to enlarge God’s kingdom, evangelize the lost, equip Christians and encourage the hurting.  For more information, visit us at www.fbmaryville.org.  We are currently searching for a Lead Worship Pastor whose requirements and responsibilities are listed below.

Worship Minister Requirement Description

Bachelor's degree required – Worship, Music, Arts, or Ministerial-related degree, similar advanced degree a plus.  Either from a Southern Baptist-affiliated school considered a plus.   

At least 5 years experience providing worship leadership in churches of similar size, including all aspects of planning, coordination, and execution of Worship Arts function.

Solid technical skills including advanced vocals and proficiency in instrumentation, sound and visual mechanics, and worship planning software. 

Loyal team player with ability to multi-task, engage, and lead other church processes as needed through flexible work habits and adaptation to changing situations and ministry demands.

Worship Minister Responsibility Description

Lead a comprehensive worship and arts program.

Assist the Senior Pastor in planning the worship and arts program and its alignment with the core principles of the church.  “Focus on the big picture.”

Ensure effective weekly worship and arts operations including planning, scheduling, rehearsals, communications, services, evaluation, etc.  “Do the do” with completeness and quality.

Train, mentor, and equip other professional staff, lay leaders, students and future leaders as needed in worship and arts.  “Touch a tomorrow that we will never see.”

Follow the Senior Pastor’s leadership and cooperate with other ministry leaders to meet church objectives. Promote and guard the unity of the church and cooperative spirit of the staff.  Demonstrate “one team, one dream” with an uncompromising 24/7 mind-set.

Remain current on music methods, materials, promotion, and administration. “Stay relevant.”

Own the annual worship budget and adjust as needed its cost-effective administration.  “Live a life of Kingdom stewardship.”

Provide long-range planning aligned with long-term church objectives.  “Leave a legacy.”

Continually drive worship and arts improvements.  “Guard against complacency.”

We have always been a church that loves people. From our beginning in 1945 in downtown Maryville to our present location on Route 162, we continue to grow and reach out to the region with programming for all ages. Recently, we have been averaging over 1500 in attendance for Sunday morning worship, with over 1100 attending our ConnectGroups.
