Position:  Children’s Pastor

Christ’s Church of the Valley – Royersford, PA (CCV) began in 1999 when Senior Pastor Brian Jones and his wife Lisa accepted the challenge to move to the 422 corridor to start a new church for the fast- growing Montgomery County area. In just a few short years, CCV has grown from a handful of people meeting in Brian’s family room to over 1,800 people celebrating together every weekend. God has amazed Brian’s family and staff team every step of the way.

 

The mission of CCV is to help people become fully devoted followers of Jesus. A core belief is that church is not just about Sunday services – but about people. Church is about mission, changing lives and being part of something that really matters. At CCV, weekend services are energetic, informal, engaging and a lot of fun. Teaching is Bible-based and practical. The result is the birth of a place where people from every spiritual background feel at home. Both seasoned believers and those just checking out spiritual matters are drawn to God and to one another. People are accepted at CCV just the way they are and won't find a "holier than thou" attitude. Rather, CCV is about people loving people one person at a time and taking God seriously, without taking themselves too seriously.

 

 

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY APPROACH

Currently, CCV is involved in casting vision to their church body through a new strategic plan that is championing growth toward reaching their community in a greater way than ever and becoming a church that sees over 2,500 kids, youth and adults per weekend. The plan includes completely re-energizing their Children’s Ministry with not only a full-time, energetic Pastor to kids, but a re-theming of their children’s facility and the resourcing of a greater vision to reach young families for Christ. Senior leadership has recognized that they are willing to go the distance to resource, prioritize and fully support a king-size vision to reach children and families. The next leader of children’s ministry will literally have a blank slate to create a new and dynamic ministry to children that rivals their solid youth program.

 

CCV is looking for a children’s Pastor who is theologically aligned with the church in both education and successful ministry experience from an independent Christian Church/Restoration movement church background. A candidate’s theology and church/education background is the most important consideration. The comprehensive theological beliefs and church government description are listed in detail on the church web site under “What We Believe.”

 

Currently CCV has done a great job of thinking through its current state of the ministry to children and identifying the need for a motivated, “hands-on” Children’s Pastor who has a calling to reach and equip young families for Christ within a larger vision to become a church of 2,500 or more – which means building a children’s ministry structure for 500-750 children per weekend. Their traditional Day Camp program is a catalyst event that, with strong Pastoral leadership, could see swarms of families translating from the Day Camp experience to attending CCV as a members on the weekends.

 

CCV needs a strong “promoter” who can lead an existing strongly-administrative kid’s ministry team, articulate a massive vision to the executive staff and become the “face” of the ministry. After a season where the children’s ministry’s uniqueness has been a well-organized, mostly female-led ministry to children, CCV is now searching for a new uniqueness in their attempt to reach the 5th grade boy target with a “top-down” mentality. The executive team has recognized the limitations of the current children’s ministry approach, philosophy of ministry, and vision – and they are anxious to equip a new ministry to children that will be the “talk of the town!”

 

This is a once-in-a-career opportunity for a children’s Pastor to rebuild a ministry while working within a phenomenal staff structure in a healthy, growing church that is poised to reach an entire community for Christ. The current ministry to kids is very structurally sound – from electronic check-in systems to media tools to curriculum usage – and is now simply in need of the “spark” that will multiply its impact. In addition, a children’s Pastor who either functions in or highly values a live worship experience is a must for CCV – since the kid’s facility is already over-the-top equipped to make this happen. Excellent, age-appropriate live worship can literally become the “brand” of the CCV ministry to children!

 

CCV needs a “face” for their Children’s Ministry.  The potential for change here is so exciting!

For a dynamic Pastor whose leadership matches the direction of the church at large, the sky is the limit. CCV is looking for an experienced leader who knows kid’s ministry nationally and who also has a professional “edge” from the platform. The new children’s leader of CCV needs to be the “voice” of the ministry, and the link to a new season of growth – both in quality and numbers.

  • High ministry competency (a veteran of children’s conferences, networking)
  • Able to be highly engaging as a leader of families
  • Able to develop a team-oriented culture through training, mentoring, and teaching
  • Experienced in leading ministries that reach 400+ children
  • Committed to and doctrinally aligned with the Vision, Mission and Values of CCV

 

      Reports To / Relates Closely With:

            • Executive Pastor / existing Children’s Ministry staff

 

            Provides Oversight To:

  • Existing and future families, existing full and part-time directors
  • Future paid staff overseeing divisions
  • All volunteers (including the recruitment of both youth and parents)

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Live a healthy balanced lifestyle that honors God, family, and others
  • Provide overall leadership to the Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers
  • Lead the structure and design of children’s weekend services in a team environment
  • Facilitate creative children’s and family events (VBS, camps, outreaches)
  • Function as both an administrator and “the face” of the ministry to kids and parents
  • Redefine, revitalize and maintain a healthy, effective volunteer team of parents and teens
  • Realistically equip parents to be involved in the spiritual formation of their child
  • Build a family culture that is continually attracting new kids and families

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Recruit volunteers and skilled staff and develop current staff to grow into their God-given potential
  • Develop a new strategy for “large-group” sessions that includes live worship
  • Produce outreach-oriented events that are strategic to the overall vision and mission of the church
  • Develop a strategic plan in alignment with the overall church mission, vision, values, and strategies
  • Oversee adjustment and implementation of an effective, long-term budget

 

Compensation Package:

  • Total compensation includes full-time health benefits, housing allowance, expense account, etc.
  • Entire package may be proportioned to accommodate needs (salary, housing, retirement)
