Neartown Church is a young church plant in the middle of the booming city of Houston, Texas. The church began three years ago when the current pastor, Russell Cravens, felt compelled to leave his suburban lifestyle and position of influence at a megachurch to minister to the people in the city, bringing the message that “In Christ, God restores.” The vision of Neartown Church is to invite busy people to experience the peace of life with Jesus Christ.

Neartown Church is passionate about connecting with one another through weekly worship, small groups, and fellowship, as well as connecting with the un-churched in their lives and community. They seek to restore locally with ongoing ministries, volunteering with local non-profits, and partnering with other churches, as well as restore globally by partnering with missionaries, supporting global non-profits, and sending people to all parts of the world to carry the Gospel in word and in deed.

As part of their mission to connect and restore, Neartown Church is seeking a Discipleship & Connections Pastor who will manage and bring innovation to the assimilation process of connecting visitors and new members with Neartown Church. This position will be responsible for overseeing and encouraging the volunteer leaders in the areas of small groups, connection teams, and assimilation, with the goal of more members involved in small groups and connecting to the church body. The Discipleship & Connections Pastor will shepherd and disciple the church body in a way that mobilizes and sends them out into the community around them in a missional way.

The successful candidate will likely hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Biblical Studies from an accredited college or university, as well as possess a track record of connecting a church body though small groups, assimilation, and development of volunteers and leaders in the church. Proven experience in team-building, creative thinking, mobilizing teams, connecting people and resources to needs, and the ability to connect across multiple generations are necessary for this position. The ability to win people over and bring out the best in them will be key in the success of this role.
