Job Description:

Bellaire United Methodist Church is a family-oriented neighborhood church with a desire to grow its contemporary worship service. We have a talented volunteer praise team and band and are seeking an experienced contemporary worship leader and committed Christian who desires to share his/her passion for Christ with our congregation through music. 

This person must be an accomplished instrumentalist and vocalist, have a broad experience with and knowledge of contemporary Christian music, be able to utilize the latest multi-media technology, and have strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills. The preferred candidate, in addition to a vibrant faith in Christ Jesus, must have: 
Experience in a church setting that demonstrates:
• High energy & ability to equip & inspire 
• Exceptional relationship skills 
• Strong vocals and/or instrumental gifts on one or more contemporary band instruments 
• Ability to train vocalists to sing parts and to advance the skills of an all volunteer band and vocal team 
• Familiarity with lyric presentation, visual media and graphics software and other media 
• A heart for ministry and sound judgment
These additional qualifications are preferred:
• A broad musical range from folk, R&B, and ballads to rock/pop 
• A Bachelor Degree in music or music performance or equivalent experience performing with or leading praise teams 
The Contemporary Worship Leader reports directly to the Senior Pastor and has the following responsibilities:
• Work with the pastors, program staff, worship ministry team, the music ministry (choirs, vocal and/or instrumental ensembles etc.), and those responsible for audio systems, video production, computer graphics and presentations, as well as drama and other special presenters so that the contemporary worship service is of consistent high quality and worship-filled • Plan and conduct band & praise team rehearsals at least once a week
• Select worship songs and music for contemporary worship that complement the worship theme 
• Lead the music portion of contemporary worship 
• Maintain contemporary music library, materials, supplies, musical instruments and other audio and video equipment central to contemporary worship 
• Coordinate help with set-up and taking down equipment for worship and practice 
• Ensure that equipment is in working order and ready for practices and worship 
• Work in cooperation with Director of Liturgical Music & Worship Arts to identify, enlist, and train volunteers to serve in worship arts (dance, drama and readings) to augment the contemporary worship services
• Work collaboratively with program staff and volunteers to develop and employ media and technology to support and enhance contemporary worship
• Plan and organize special events such as concerts that involve contemporary musical artists

This is a part time position (approximately 20-25 hours/week). Salary is commensurate with experience.
