Job Description:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the church’s communications strategy, including church messaging, brand development, internal and external marketing.

  • Work with various ministry leaders to strategically promote the ministries of the church.

  • Work with the Senior Pastor to develop creative and compelling sermon marketing.

  • Coordinate with the worship leaders to build excellent media presentations for Sunday morning worship.

  • Work with ministry team leaders to promote ministries by designing content and using strategic methods for communication.

  • Manage and execute the church’s social media strategy by continually showing growth in reach.

  • Design and print the weekly bulletin, with a specific focus of information for people new to the church.

  • Design and print the monthly newsletter, with a focus on providing stories of individuals from within the church experiencing transformation or meaningful ministry.

  • Design and print the Daily Devotional, and manage an online format for distribution.  

  • Manage a church-app, including information for sermons, giving,

  • Manage the design for the Weekly Connection email.

  • Manage the church’s website by creating compelling design and uploading current information like: weekly sermons, event announcements, creating consistent design and verbiage through the various pages.

  • Manage the church signage both internally and externally to create a consistent look and feel.

  • Work with outside vendors, newspapers, and others for marketing purposes.

  • Manage the church’s copiers, including working with repairmen, providing toner, and managing usage.

  • Manage the communications budget.

  • Attend staff functions and meetings.



  • A growing and committed relationship with God through Jesus Christ and a passion to reach the unchurched

  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and vision of First United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ

  • Three years professional experience in graphic design, including high proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Three years professional experience in nonprofit marketing and communication, with preferred experience on a church staff.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and have attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and create deadlines and initiate projects without prior direction.
