Job Description:

Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City is a dynamic, multi-generational church nearing 6,000 in weekly attendance. Crossings has a robust history spanning 55 years. In 1985, Marty Grubbs became the Senior Pastor for a congregation of 100 people. He has now been on staff for over 32 years and the church has a great reputation for meeting needs and proclaiming the gospel.

In 1999, the church relocated to a new site in northwest OKC and attendance ballooned to over 3,100. Over the last 15 years both the attendance and the facility (325,000 sq. ft.) has continued to grow. Crossings Christian School and Crossings Community Center & Clinic are just two of the amazing ways the church is meeting the needs of the Oklahoma City area.

Each Sunday at Crossings, three distinctly different worship styles are offered in three separate venues over five services: Liturgical in an amazingly beautiful Chapel, Traditional Blended in the 2,800-seat Sanctuary (2 services), and a Modern worship gathering in their newest 1100-seat Venue (2 services).

Crossings Community Church is a healthy church with strong, stable leadership and vision. The pastoral team is comprised of nearly 40 pastors, with an almost equal number of men and woman. The facility is very attractive and well designed. The church is financially very healthy. Despite numerous building expansion projects over the last 15 years, the church has never in its history carried any long-term debt.

Every ministry at Crossings is firmly rooted in and committed to its Vision, Mission and Purpose Statement. The purpose of Crossings Community Church is to be a Christ-centered church building Christ-centered people through Worship, Bible Study, Friendship, and Compassion.

Crossings Community Church is located in northwest Oklahoma City, near Edmond. The Metro area has a population of approximately 1.2 million, and is home to great restaurants, parks, lakes, a downtown Triple-A baseball stadium, and the NBA’s Thunder. A typical 2500 sq. ft. home costs approximately $250,000.

Crossings is a multi-generational church comprised of middle class and upper middle class families. The current demographic of the church is: 45% – Birth to 40 years old, 30% – 41-64 years old, 25% – 65+ years old.

The main campus is a sprawling 325,000 square foot facility built in phases that began in 1999. The campus includes a 2,800-seat Sanctuary, bookstore, library, coffee shop, educational wings, administrative offices, the Chapel, the Venue and a fitness center and gym. Their K-12 school is also part of the campus. The Community Center & Clinic is located in another part of the city and, while the current facility is rented, construction is underway for a permanent home to open later this year. Like the church’s facility, it will be debt free when completed.

Crossings Student Ministries has reached a crossroads where the leadership of the church has decided to invest in the future of the ministry with this new position. This is a position that has been created to better serve middle and high school students, with the continued growth and vision of the church in mind.

The Student Ministries team consists of four full-time pastors; two for middle school (7th & 8th grades), two for high school (typically one for guys and one for girls in each), plus one full-time and one part-time administrative assistant. The current staff is talented and experienced, but they also have a willingness and openness to learning. Over the past six months, the team has visited several other similarly sized and larger churches to experience and learn about their approach to youth ministry.

One of the unique things about Crossings and their youth ministry is that it is not only strongly supported by the leadership and church as a whole but it is also empowered to grow and cast its own vision as well. This new position will be responsible for casting the vision and leading the team into the future of where Student Ministries can go.

At the present time there is a High School service and Middle School service running concurrently on Sunday mornings during the 9:30am sanctuary service. Both ministries share the same space on the 3rd floor with a common lounge/hang out area. On each side of the Student Ministries lobby are two rooms (theaters) that serve as the meeting rooms for each ministry.

Both the Middle School and High School also meet on Wednesday nights with a more discipleship-based approach.

Another impressive element of Student Ministries at Crossings is how many opportunities the students are able to be involved in throughout the summer months. There are events, activities and trips for students nearly every week covering a variety of interests.

Crossings is strongly committed to youth ministry, which is evidenced by being one of the most resourced departments year-to-year, and by the investment in the K-12 school that is located on the campus. The school has continued to grow (currently 1000 students) and they are in the middle of a major building project for a new Middle School.
