Beginning as a house church in Fullerton 1962, Eastside Christian Church (ECC) has always been about pursuing God, building community, and missional outreach both locally and globally. Senior Pastor, Gene Appel has grown this vision exponentially since he arrived nearly six years ago from Willow Creek (he is ECC’s third Senior Pastor).

 

His seasoned leadership has streamlined ministry focus behind a simple model that stays tightly focused on this mission: Transforming their homes, community and world as they pursue God (in weekend services), build community (in connection groups), and unleash compassion (next door, in their community, and globally). This intentional and strategic focus has increased the kingdom impact of ECC across the board evidenced by them being named as the 11th fastest growing church in American according to Outreach magazine.

 

ECC is a part of the restoration movement – a loosely associated “denomination” promoting individual autonomy among aligned ‘independent Christian churches’ that share common theology and doctrine. Today Eastside is a thriving and influential church in North Orange County.

The Church is known for weekend services with solid Bible teaching and passionate singing. It’s a group of believers committed to live out their faith in Biblical Community at all different stages of our relationship with Christ. Ignite is the High School Ministry of Eastside.  

On Sunday mornings, students from all across Anaheim and the surrounding areas come together to worship God and recognize that they’re not on this journey alone. Together they sing, laugh enjoy food and dive deeper into the Bible through engaging, purposeful teaching.

Groups meet weekly throughout the school year, in homes throughout the community. Join a group to deepen your relationships with other students, adult leaders and with God. Groups have about 10 students of the same grade and gender, plus a couple great adult leaders.   • Theologically and doctrinally aligned with Eastside on important matters
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry, Bible or relevant area of study desired

 

Relates Closely With:

  • SURGE Junior High Director
  • Pastoral Staff

 

Provides Oversight To:

  • Ignite Volunteers
  • Administrative Assistant (part-time)

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Live a healthy balanced lifestyle that honors God, family and others
  • Provide overall leadership to the Ignite Ministry
  • Lead the design of worship services and special events
  • Lead team at a realistic pace allowing for each other’s personal best
  • Provide spiritual oversight of Ignite ministry team
  • Shepherd the volunteer teams with loving care
  • Communicate with key people with clarity and in a timely manner
  • Deliver expectations of others in the creative process in a timely manner
  • Meet regularly with Executive Director and others involved in leadership relevant to ministry
  • Build a culture of excitement and anticipation for what God will do next

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Recruit volunteers with the capacity to fulfill the vision and dreams of ministry
  • Establish and maintain a capacity level among team that will insure Eastside’s best

offering to God.

  • Develop current volunteers and artists to realize their God given potential
  • Produce outreach-oriented events that are strategic to the overall vision and mission of

the church

  • Develop strategic plans for the department in alignment with the overall church mission,

vision, values and strategies

  • Oversee systems that facilitate good communication amongst ministry staff and teams
  • Oversee creation and implementation of the budget
  • Develop systems and structures that will create a healthy, God-honoring ministry culture

Compensation Package:

  • Total compensation negotiable based on experience and education
  • Entire package may be proportioned to accommodate the needs of person (salary,

housing, retirement, or health insurance)
