Christ Chapel of the Valley: Director of Music Overview

With a clear call to love God, love people and serve the world in the name of Jesus, we aspire in grace to glorify God and advance His Kingdom in our community and across the world. We desire to see unchurched people drawn into the worshiping body of Christ and we desire to help equip the next generation to carry forward the good news. We also desire to see our church family grow into maturity in Christ. We seek to do this through dynamic worship, inspired teaching, loving fellowship, Spirit-filled service, and gracious outreach to our neighbors and friends incarnating the love of God in Jesus Christ.

Christ Chapel of the Valley was founded in 1992 as a non-denominational Christian church with inter-denominational membership and is affiliated with the Christ Chapel Association of Churches. It functions as an open and affirming church to all God loving people regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.

Christ Chapel is located in the NoHo Arts District of Los Angeles. Approximately 300 people call Christ Chapel home, with an average of 100-120 attending on a given Sunday. Currently, we offer one Sunday morning service.

           Ability to handle conflict with sensitivity and respect 

Abilities and Talents Desired

           Energetic leader with a heart for God. Passionate in working with volunteers who are blessed with all levels of talent and experience

           Enough music theory to create basic orchestration, Instrumental and vocal arrangements, Read and write sheet music and charts for musicians

           Vocalist and/or instrumentalist skills – keyboards preferred

           Authentic understanding of various musical genres

           Experience with audio, visual and associated digital technology for artful service, presentation

           General working knowledge of church leadership and management structure

Job Description: CCOV Music Director

1. Primary Focus – Hands-on Leadership

           Prefer 3 to 5 years experience as a Music Director

           Lead our music portion of the service and develop the ministry, through a contemporary blend of Christian, traditional and Gospel vibes

           Grow, train and provide leadership to our constantly evolving team of vocalists & instrumentalists

           Develop and nurture multi-media areas related to leading the music portion of the service

           Work with the Senior Pastor to decide on appropriate music selections that glorify God and ministers to the congregation

2. Oversight & Management

           All areas of church music production including: Music part of the  service planning and implementation, Audio-visual team, Holiday and special occasion music

           Music Department budget & resources

           Maintenance and care of instruments and equipment

3. Collaboration & Communication

           Pastoral Staff

           Praise team vocalists and musicians

           Church Governing Body



     Compensation This is a part-time ministry staff position with compensation that aligns with the applicants experience and demographics of our church.
