Job Description:

Christ Community Church is a non-denominational church in the western suburbs of Chicago. 


The Middle School Associate Pastor & Student Ministries Creative Arts Director is responsible for providing leadership to the creative elements for middle and high school programs and events. Areas of oversight include music, video, design, live elements and technology.  The Middle School Associate Pastor & Student Ministries Creative Arts Director is also responsible for leading middle and high school students in worship in a way that reflects a balance of spirit and truth and is relevant and engaging within the ministry demographic, so that students will mature in their understanding of God. 





  • Supports creative programming process from planning through implementation for all student ministry events
  • Directs the performance, technical and design aspects of STC student ministries services; Supervises  the execution of media elements for student ministries programming & events (including audio, video, digital and performance arts)
  • Serves as the primary music/worship leader for student ministries services and events
  • Serves as the liaison to outside ministries and organizations in coordinating music and technical aspects for cooperative events and processes contracts and riders to ensure effective execution of events
  • Coordinates with Hub Director to oversee all technical aspects of Hub & Theatre operations including sound, lighting, and video equipment maintenance


  • Develops and maintains student and adult volunteer teams for Genesis including: Tech, Worship, Welcome, and Hype/games Teams
  • Develops and maintains a social media presence for Genesis that reaches both students and parents
  • Oversees and executes all MS events (ANR, NT, CRASH, WW, Winter Kickoff & theme nights)
  • Contributes creatively to the development of Genesis curriculum, color elements, worship response and small group experiences that emphasize personal experience
  • Maintains a visible and active role in Genesis; building shepherding relationships with middle school students and families


  • Ensures that all volunteer staff within Creative Arts at the St. Charles campus are recruited and trained in a manner consistent with CCC’s onboarding process and put through the requisite background check before scheduled for service
  • Implements and oversees a process for the care, training, appreciation and spiritual growth of SM creative arts volunteers
  • Encourages all volunteer & paid staff to participate in believer’s baptism, membership classes, community groups and FPU classes
  • Regular and ongoing – leading worship, evangelism, shepherding/discipleship, serving communion, serving periodically as ministry staff-on-call, and providing one-on-one counseling, referrals, and care to same gender students or families needing help
  •  As needed/directed – weddings, funerals, baby dedications, missions trips

 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS DIRECTED BY THE STUDENT MINISTRIES DIRECTOR - The Creative Arts Director agrees to take on additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor and as necessary for the continued development of the Student Ministries of Christ Community Church.  These responsibilities will most likely be added according to the gifts, passions and talents of the employee, designed to address the growing and changing needs of the ministry team and may be added at the initiative and discretion of the supervisor.


  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role focused on creative arts, worship and event planning
  • Degree or certificate in student ministry, biblical studies, worship arts or similar field preferred
  • Musical gifting in both instrument and voice, with  an ability to teach and train others instrumentally, vocally and technologically preferred
  • Evidence of a passion for worship & for ministry to students
  • Key spiritual gifts of leadership, creative worship and administration
  • Flexibility in scheduled work hours based upon special events and regular weekend services
  • Availability to participate in missions related ministry opportunities
  • Experience leading teams: recruiting, training, maintaining and mobilizing volunteers
  • Familiarity with social media, audio & video tools, and online resources such as PlanningCenterOnline, Vimeo, Google Apps & Dropbox preferred
  • Track record of successful event/project management with target audiences of 100+ preferred
  • Willingness to commit in membership to Christ Community Church within first 12 months of employment
  • Ability to fulfill the physical, mental and emotional requirements of the position, and within the necessary work environments, as listed in the attached ADA task list, which is considered an addendum to this job description
  • Willingness and ability to comply with and support all policies, procedures, standards and statements outlined in the Employee Handbook, position papers and other governing documents created for Christ Community Church
