Oak Hills Evangelical Covenant Church is looking for a full–time Associate Pastor to attend to the ministries of children, youth and all church worship. The Associate Pastor of Children, Youth and Worship is called to have an active and vibrant relationship with Jesus, and to love God with their whole heart and their neighbors as themselves.

Overseer of: Ministry to Children, Youth and All Church Worship

Responsible to: Lead Pastor for day-to-day operations, as well as fulfilling responsibilities defined in the job description, defining goals, evaluation and communication of concerns related to the performance of the position. The


Title: Associate Pastor


Associate Pastor shall regularly consult with the Lead Pastor on plans, procedures, and implementation of established ministry vision and mission.

The Associate Pastor will be working closely with the Lead Pastor. Whether it is developing a vision calendar for the year or preaching in her absence, we are looking to the Associate Pastor to be a tag team for Jesus in our church family and surrounding community. We are looking for a person who is open to accountability while investing in church relationships with church staff, elders and congregation. Ultimately, the Associate Pastor is accountable to God, the Lead Pastor, the Elders and the Church Council.

Also, technology is an important part of the job. You need to have a working knowledge of computers and should be aware of how to use social media, basic video editing and presentation, online worship coordination, and basic graphic arts for church and community communication.

The Associate Pastor needs to be a self-starter and be able to recruit and train volunteers. We have committed lay leaders and teachers in place to work together in our mission. He or she must also believe in the biblical command to tithe and to live a generous life. We also require that our Worship Director be able to read music as well as lead us vocally. Being able to play one or more instruments is also needed.

We are not looking for a “Lone Ranger” or Super-Star. We desire a team player who isn’t just in the field, but is willing to call the plays on the field as they direct the team under the leadership of the Lead Pastor.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will develop and oversee the Christian Discipleship and Education Ministry for children and youth, ages 4 through 18. The Associate Pastor will organize and implement a total education and ministry experience with the focus on evangelism, as well as the spiritual maturity of the believer. He or she will ensure that educational and discipleship goals are consistent with and compliment the goals and vision of Oak Hills Church.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will also develop, oversee and direct the Worship Ministry, leading the general congregation into worship throughout the weekend service(s), coordinating with appropriate Pastors and Ministry Leaders. In general, the Associate Pastor will oversee the “Worship Arts” portion of our church. From leading the congregation into worship to developing eye catching media, actively adding to the overall worship experience in all church services.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will regularly attend and provide appropriate leadership in all weekend services and all church events and meetings. The

Primary Functions:


Associate Pastor will be available to the congregation before and after services as other duties allow.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will function as assistant to the Lead Pastor in all church needs and demands. He or she must be competent in time- management, organization, as well as interpersonal relationships. This person must be able to work efficiently and effectively in team situations, as well as the ability to work independently.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will recruit, train and equip all volunteer leadership for each area of designated ministry. He or she will continue to provide on-going training for leaders, teachers and facilitators. The Associate Pastor will also provide general spiritual, emotional and relational care to the volunteer leadership in the ministries of responsibility. He or she will continually train God’s people to do the work of the ministry and witness of the Gospel.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will work with the Lead Pastor to provide on-going communication, support and training for families.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will work with the Lead Pastor to develop, oversee and train “Buddies,” Mentors and other Inter-Generational Ministry Opportunities.

  • !  The Associate Pastor will direct “All Church” events.

  • !  Live within a 15 mile Radius of the Church or Relocate

  • !  The Associate Pastor will keep regular “Office Hours (Generally: 10am-2pm, Monday through Thursday) unless notifying the Church Administrator or Lead Pastor according to the needs of the ministry. It is recognized that the work schedule may vary at different times of the year.

    Our Associate Pastor of Children, Youth and Worship has four key components: Associate Pastor, Overseer of Children’s Ministry, Lead Youth Pastor and Worship Director.

    As the overseer of Children’s ministry, you will equip, train and support lay leaders and teachers to train our children in Christian education and formation, cultivating a heart for God and a foundation of biblical truths. Presently, we have a handful of Elementary age children in our church fellowship.

    As our primary Youth Pastor, you will shepherd the hearts of our Jr. High and High School Students to become mature Disciples of Christ, loving God and their



neighbors, as they witness and share their Christian faith. Presently, we have approximately 5 Jr. High Students and 4 High School Students.

As our Worship Director, you will organize, lead and execute corporate worship to train and inspire us to worship God.

Finally, as our Associate Pastor, you will also work alongside our Lead Pastor in praying, planning and leading our church family. This will include creating pathways for church growth, practices of discipleship and development of communication materials.

Ultimately, our Associate Pastor will join our Oak Hills Family to lead and build God’s Kingdom.
