The primary responsibility for this position is to serve Christ Community Church by providing leadership to the High School ministry at the St. Charles campus.  Expectations of leadership include: casting the vision for high school ministry under the umbrella of CCC Student Ministries; recruiting, training and caring for volunteer teams; planning and implementing ministry programs and events; serving as the primary teaching pastor for high school students; and shepherding students to a deeper understanding of God’s word and a more intimate relationship with Christ.





  • Serves as a key contributor on the strategic development of SM programs, events and initiatives for the entire ministry season
  • Maintains a high priority and balance of both evangelism and discipleship within the ministry goals, calendar and regular emphasis
  • Together with the Student Ministries Director, sets the direction for the high school ministry in consideration of the purpose and priorities of the ministry, as well as resources available at each local campus
  • Mentors and collaborates with the High School pastors at each extension campus


MINISTRY EXECUTION (Ongoing/Seasonal/One-Time)

  • Provides leadership for HS ministry events by: facilitating an effective planning process, ensuring effective communication to students, leaders and parents; overseeing event implementation; and performing a comprehensive evaluation to provide feedback on the relative value of each event with respect to the local campuses and to Student Ministries as a whole
  • Ensures that all paid and volunteer staff within High School ministry at the St. Charles campus are hired or recruited in a manner consistent with CCC’s interview/selection process and put through the requisite background check before scheduled for service
  • Ensures that all paid and volunteer staff are trained on accountability standards and youth protection policies and equipped to promote SM values within the ministry setting
  • Oversees the House Group System for all CCC campuses



  • Serves as the lead teacher for HS Ministries at the St. Charles Campus and House Groups System
  • Establishes yearly curriculum for High School ministry for all CCC Campuses



  • Oversees the development and health of SC HouseGroup leadership team members, who are responsible for investing in adult and student leaders, identifying serving opportunities with Community Impact partners, and evangelizing to students at local area schools
  • Ensuring that each HS student at the St. Charles campus is actively being shepherded in a small group structure that is well staffed by volunteers, well equipped with curriculum, and strategically prepared for growth



  • Regular & Ongoing- evangelism/outreach, teaching, shepherding/discipleship, one-on-one counseling, serving as ministry staff on-call, providing care and/or referrals to individual students and families needing assistance, and serving as baptism coordinator for HS students
  • As needed/directed – weddings, funerals, baby dedications, serving communion, missions trips



 The St. Charles High School Pastor agrees to take on additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor and as necessary for the continued development of the Student Ministries of Christ Community Church.  These responsibilities will most likely be added according to the gifts, passions and talents of the employee, designed to address the growing and changing needs of the ministry team and may be added at the initiative and discretion of the supervisor.



  • Reports to and interacts most significantly with Student Ministries Director

  • Serves as a member of the Student Ministries Lead Team, which includes the Student Ministries Director/Team Captain, Creative Arts Director, Middle School Director and extension campus Middle/High School pastors

  • Develops mentoring/shepherding relationships with one or more same gender students

  • Interacts frequently with multi-campus and resource staff, including the SM Administrator

  • Helps recruit, schedule and supervise adult and student volunteers in support roles

  • Submits to the Senior Pastor and Board of Elders of Christ Community Church



  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and ministry experience 5 years in one place in a similar role

  • Experience recruiting, creating, developing, and deploying volunteer teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for use in a variety of settings from formal presentations and large community gatherings to informational meetings to 1 on 1 counseling or discipleship opportunities

  • Flexibility in scheduled work hours based upon special events and regular weekend services

  • Support of and participation in Community Impact and International Impact

  • Key spiritual gifts of leadership, evangelism and teaching

  • Proven success in leadership replication and strategic ministry execution

  • Evidence of a passion for evangelism & for students

  • Willingness to commit in membership to Christ Community Church within first 12 months of employment

  • Ability to fulfill the physical, mental and emotional requirements of the position, and work within the necessary work environments, as listed in the attached ADA task list, which is considered an addendum to this job description

  • Willingness and ability to comply with and support all policies, procedures, standards and statements outlined in the Employee Handbook, position papers and other governing documents created for Christ Community Church
