Position:              Pastor of Adult Spiritual Formation         


Reports to:          Executive Pastor


Summary of Position:


We are a mosaic striving to live like Jesus.  This individual will serve on our Core Leadership Team with special emphasis on adult spiritual formation.  This position will help drive the shape of the discipleship culture at Grace Community Church.  The individual in this position will work closely with our lead pastoral team as well as the Director of Women’s Ministries.


Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Help champion the shifting of our culture to a      relationally driven (not program driven) discipleship model, emphasizing      mentoring, prayer, and life-long spiritual formation among other things.
  • Oversee all adult ministries, including but not      limited to our Men’s Ministries; Small Groups; Adult Bible Studies.

Oversee / lead:

Tuesdays at Grace.   This is our adult teaching ministry that includes an early morning men's study, a morning women's study and evening studies.  Responsibilities include choosing, reviewing and approving curriculum and occasionally teaching studies; recruiting table leaders for various studies; fostering relationships with able leaders and participants to help with their growth, training them to be able to lead others into growing relationships with Christ.

Leading Edge.  This is a nine month small group discipleship experience that explores the question who am I, who is God, and what does He desire to do uniquely through me.   This program is designed in such a way to foster disciplines and rhythms that allow people to grow for a lifetime.

Small Group Ministries.  Responsible for recruiting, training and equipping small group leaders and assisting with obtaining appropriate studies; encouraging and nurturing small group leaders so they feel valued and equipped; ensuring connection of anyone who wishes to be in a small group be placed in an appropriate small group.  We want to leverage the small group component of T@G to expand the existing small groups ministry.

Connection.  This, assimilation, is one of our core essentials and critical to an individual’s journey in their spiritual life.  Responsibilities include leading an effort to determine the various opportunities our adults have to connect with Grace and each other; providing a clear path to those connection opportunities; and fostering relationships to equip the saints to engage in connection relationships.

Men’s ministries.  Responsibilities include leading the core leadership team that oversees Men’s ministries as well as providing relational guidance to men within the body of Grace.

Other Responsibilities:

            Pastoral needs, Help share the responsibility with other pastors on staff doing           weddings, funerals, counseling and visitations.

Teaching and Preaching.  Teaching in smaller group settings, trainings, Tuesdays at Grace and occasional preaching on Sunday mornings.

            Sunday on site Pastor.  Meeting, greeting and helping people who attend on             Sunday to make necessary connections (work the lobby)
