Job Description:

Primary Role/Function


Development of a worship ministry, integrating music, scripture, and prayer, that provides inspiring and instructive God-exalting worship. Coordinate and lead community outreach efforts.


Report to the Administrative Board through the Pastor.

  1. To develop a praise and worship team able to lead congregational singing from a wide variety of musical styles, both traditional and contemporary.

  2. Be responsible for the leadership, planning, staffing and execution of all musical praise and worship elements during Sunday morning worship services, as well as, all special events/services.

  3. Direct the planning, coordination, operation and evaluation of praise team members.

  4. Direct the praise team during weekly Sunday worship services and lead weekly scheduled rehearsals.

  5. Recruit and train new praise team members.

  6. Provide information to the necessary individuals on song selections for each week in a timely manner.

  7. Participate in regular meetings with the Pastor and collaborate with the Pastor on all ministry efforts.

  8. Assess outreach opportunites to enable evangelism and service to the community.

  9. Develop an outreach team.

  10. Coordinate and lead outreach efforts.

  11. Collaborate with other churches, ministry groups, and social service agencies.

  12. Become aware of resources available through American Baptist Churches, Inter-Church Ministries, the Erie CIty Mission, Camp Judson, etc.


  1. A committed Christian who is deepening their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and modeling this to others.

  2. Theological training a plus.

  3. Knowledge of a wide variety of musical styles, including contemporary worship music, and the ability to teach these varying styles to the team.

  4. Strong vocal skills with proficiency playing the guitar and/or piano.

  5. Possess effective interpersonal communication skills.

  6. Possess good organizational skills.

  7. Possess a positive attitude.

  8. Understanding of the church “tech world”.

  9. Video production skills desirable.

  10. Previous experience leading worship is preferable.
